Director General National Cadet Corps Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, accompanied by the Additional Director General, Maharashtra Directorate, visited Group Headquarters NCC Pune to review training initiatives, infrastructure, expansion plans and future-ready programmes of the NCC.
During the visit, the DG NCC interacted with officers, instructors and cadets and reviewed various initiatives being undertaken by the Maharashtra NCC Directorate. He commended the formation for its performance and highlighted the achievements of its cadets.

A key achievement highlighted during the interaction was the recognition of girl cadets from Maharashtra Directorate as All India Best Cadet for three consecutive years. The achievement was appreciated by the DG NCC as an indication of the performance and contribution of girl cadets within the NCC.
Lt Gen Virendra Vats was briefed on initiatives relating to Cyber Defender training and the integration of Drone Technology into NCC training. He was also apprised of challenges associated with the expansion of the NCC.

Emphasising the need for a De-Novo approach to the NCC syllabus, the DG NCC underscored the importance of incorporating future-ready skills into cadet training. The focus areas highlighted during the interaction included Nari Shakti, Cyber Security, Drone Technology and Disaster Management.
The DG NCC also highlighted the importance of skill development and youth-led nation building. These areas were linked to the broader objective of preparing young people with relevant skills and capabilities towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The emphasis on Cyber Security and Drone Technology reflects the focus on exposing cadets to emerging areas of technology, while Disaster Management remains an important area for developing capabilities relevant to national service and community support.
Nari Shakti was also highlighted as an important area of focus, alongside the continued development and participation of girl cadets. The achievements of Maharashtra NCC girl cadets, including their All India Best Cadet honours for three consecutive years, formed an important part of the DG NCC’s interaction with the fraternity.

The visit also provided an opportunity to review training infrastructure and expansion plans of the NCC in Maharashtra. The DG NCC emphasised the importance of quality training and future-ready skills while interacting with personnel and cadets.
Lt Gen Virendra Vats’ interaction with the NCC fraternity in Pune reinforced the focus on modernising training, developing relevant skills and strengthening initiatives aimed at preparing cadets for emerging requirements.

The visit concluded with an emphasis on continued efforts towards quality training, skill development and youth-led nation building, with the Maharashtra NCC fraternity drawing encouragement from the DG NCC’s interaction and guidance.
