New Delhi, October 31, 2026: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh paused his performance during the opening show of the Aura India Tour at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday to honour security personnel on duty. He saluted the force, invited a woman Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer onto the stage, and told her that her presence reminded him of his mother.
Dosanjh asked the audience to give the personnel a big round of applause. As the crowd cheered, he saluted them and said, “If you are not here, we wouldn’t feel safe.” He then called the woman officer on stage, affectionately placed his hand on her head, and shared a personal reflection: “I get to meet my mother once or twice a year. But when you were standing there, I thought my mother was standing there.”
He continued by recalling a conversation earlier that day. “Today my mother called me. She said, ‘Take care of yourself.’ I said, ‘Good things will happen, don’t worry.’ Looking at you today, I thought it was my mother who was standing with me.” The moment, captured in videos that later circulated widely, drew applause from the audience. Some reports noted that Dosanjh also hugged the officer.
The concert marked the start of Dosanjh’s seven-city Aura India Tour. The performance, which faced delays due to rain and logistical issues before beginning around 7:40 pm, featured a high-energy production with hits, pyrotechnics, lasers and a drone show.
The gesture has been widely shared as a heartfelt acknowledgement of the CRPF and Delhi Police personnel who ensured security at the large-scale event.
