Sikkim, November 7, 2026: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth, visited the Kripan Division under the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps to review the prevailing security environment, operational preparedness and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening combat effectiveness.
During the visit, General Seth was briefed on the security situation, operational priorities and measures undertaken by the formation to enhance its readiness for emerging challenges. A major highlight of the briefing was the Trishakti Corps’ efforts towards realising the VIJAY vision, with particular emphasis on technology absorption, operational agility and integrated warfighting. The Army Chief reviewed initiatives aimed at improving combat effectiveness through the adoption of modern technologies and enhanced operational coordination.
The discussions highlighted the importance of developing a technologically advanced and adaptable force capable of responding rapidly to evolving battlefield conditions while maintaining high standards of operational readiness.

General Seth also stressed the importance of proactive planning for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. He emphasised the need for regular joint exercises and close military-civil coordination to ensure swift and effective responses during natural disasters and other emergencies.
Given the challenging mountainous terrain and vulnerability of the Himalayan region to landslides, floods and extreme weather events, coordinated disaster response capabilities remain particularly important. The Army Chief highlighted the necessity of advance planning, joint training and effective communication between military formations and civil authorities.

During his visit, General Dhiraj Seth interacted with soldiers and officers of the Kripan Division, commending their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to duty. The Trishakti Corps, also known as XXXIII Corps, is an important operational formation of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command. It plays a significant role in maintaining military preparedness in strategically sensitive areas of the eastern Himalayan region, where difficult terrain and extreme weather demand high levels of operational readiness and adaptability.
The visit reinforced the Indian Army’s continuing emphasis on modernisation, technology-driven warfare, integrated operations and disaster response preparedness. Through its focus on the VIJAY vision and enhanced combat capabilities, the Trishakti Corps continues to strengthen its readiness to address current and emerging security challenges.
General Seth’s interaction with the troops also reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to maintaining a motivated, professionally competent and future-ready fighting force capable of safeguarding national security under challenging operational conditions.
