New Delhi, November 2, 2026: The Indian Army organised the Army Aviation Annual Flight Safety Conference 2026 at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi on Monday, bringing together representatives from the three Armed Services and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to discuss critical aspects of aviation safety, risk mitigation and operational best practices.
The conference served as an important platform for strengthening coordination between the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and aviation equipment manufacturers, with a focus on improving flight safety standards and enhancing the operational effectiveness of Army Aviation.
During the conference, participants deliberated on various aspects of aviation safety, including risk mitigation strategies, operational challenges and the adoption of best practices to ensure safer flying operations.
The discussions emphasised the importance of developing a proactive safety culture, identifying potential operational risks and strengthening preventive measures to minimise aviation-related incidents.

The participation of Original Equipment Manufacturers highlighted the importance of collaboration between military aviation operators and the defence aviation industry. Such engagement helps facilitate technical discussions on aircraft performance, maintenance practices, equipment reliability and safety improvements.

Army Aviation plays a crucial role in supporting Indian Army operations, particularly in high-altitude areas, remote border regions and challenging operational environments. Its helicopters undertake a wide range of missions, including reconnaissance, surveillance, troop transportation, casualty evacuation, logistics support and other operational tasks.

Given the demanding conditions under which Army Aviation operates, maintaining high standards of flight safety remains essential for ensuring mission readiness, protecting personnel and preserving critical aviation assets.
The annual conference reinforced the collective commitment of the Armed Services and industry stakeholders to strengthening India’s military aviation safety ecosystem through continuous learning, improved coordination and the exchange of operational experience.
The deliberations also highlighted the importance of integrating safety considerations into everyday aviation operations while maintaining the high level of operational preparedness required by the Indian Armed Forces.
The Army Aviation Annual Flight Safety Conference 2026 concluded with a renewed emphasis on risk reduction, operational excellence and fostering a proactive safety culture across Army Aviation formations.
