In a proud moment for the nation, Lieutenant Colonel Dwarakesh C of the Indian Army has been conferred the ‘National Award for Persons with Disabilities 2025’ under the ‘Sarvshreshth Divyangjan’ category by the Hon’ble President of India. The award was presented in New Delhi on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Lt Col Dwarakesh’s journey is a remarkable testament to courage and resilience. Despite suffering complete loss of eyesight in a service-related accident, he continued to serve the nation on active duty, setting an extraordinary example of dedication and perseverance.

A decorated National Paralympic Champion in both swimming and shooting, he has secured multiple gold medals and currently holds the World No. 3 ranking in the 10m Air Rifle event. His achievements reflect an unwavering commitment to excellence despite adversity.
