The Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, witnessed a moment of immense pride and tradition during the Passing Out Parade (POP) held on 13 December 2025, marking the successful commissioning of the next generation of Indian Army leaders. The historic Chetwode Drill Square resonated with military precision, discipline, and emotion as young Officer Cadets marched out, ready to serve the nation.
COAS Attends Pipping Ceremony at IMA
General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), attended the Pipping Ceremony following the Passing Out Parade. In a solemn and inspiring moment, the COAS personally pinned the much-awaited stars on the shoulders of newly commissioned officers, including Foreign Officer Cadets from Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, as well as an Officer Cadet of the Assam Rifles. He congratulated the officers and their proud parents on this landmark achievement, acknowledging the years of hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance that culminated in this day.
Donning the Stars: A New Beginning
As the young officers donned their stars, they formally began their military careers in the Indian Army. The ceremony symbolised not just the completion of training, but the assumption of a lifelong responsibility towards the nation, its people, and the men they will lead. Addressing the officers, the COAS exhorted them to uphold the highest traditions, values, and ethos of the Indian Army, reminding them that leadership is defined by character, courage, and compassion.
Details of IMA Passing Out Parade 13 December 2025
General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the Passing Out Parade of the 157th Regular Course, 46th Technical Entry Scheme (TES), 140th Technical Graduate Course (TGC), 55th Special Commissioned Officers (SCO) Course, and TA OEE 2023 Course.
A total of 525 Officer Cadets, including 34 from Friendly Foreign Countries, successfully passed out from the hallowed portals of the Indian Military Academy. The parade was marked by immaculate drill, flawless coordination, and exceptional turnout, reflecting the rigorous training standards and proud traditions of the academy.
Message to the Young Officers
Congratulating the newly commissioned officers and their families, the COAS highlighted the singular honour of serving in the Armed Forces. He urged the officers to continuously strive for excellence, remain steadfast in the face of challenges, and dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the service of the nation.
The IMA POP 13 December 2025 once again reaffirmed the Indian Military Academy’s role as the cradle of military leadership, shaping officers who will safeguard the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India—on land, in conflict zones, and in times of peace.
