In a major blow to organised smuggling networks, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, conducted a successful joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in Agartala, Tripura.
During the operation, security forces seized approximately 14 kg of gold biscuits, valued at around ₹19 crore, along with Indian currency worth ₹2.87 crore. The recovery was made following coordinated intelligence-based action aimed at curbing cross-border smuggling and illicit financial activities in the region.

Officials said the recovered gold and cash have been formally handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and legal proceedings. The operation highlights effective inter-agency coordination and the sustained efforts of security forces to dismantle smuggling networks operating in the Northeast.
The Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security, preventing economic offences, and supporting civil authorities in safeguarding national interests.
