General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), visited forward areas of the Poonch Sector to review operational preparedness and assess the overall readiness of formations deployed along the Line of Control.
During the visit, the COAS reviewed the deployment posture, surveillance measures, and security arrangements in place, gaining a comprehensive understanding of ground-level preparedness in the sector. He assessed the effectiveness of operational systems and preparedness measures aimed at ensuring sustained vigilance in the challenging terrain.

Interacting with troops deployed in forward areas, General Dwivedi lauded their high standards of professionalism, operational readiness, and steadfast dedication. He commended all ranks for maintaining an exceptional state of preparedness while operating in difficult and hostile conditions, and conveyed his appreciation for their commitment to duty.

The Army Chief, accompanied by the Northern Command Army Commander, the Core Commander of XVI Corps, and the General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps, also visited forward posts along the Line of Control in the Poonch Sector.

As part of the visit, General Dwivedi interacted with civil dignitaries, ex-servicemen, and Veer Naris at Poonch Brigade Headquarters, reaffirming the Indian Army’s enduring bond with veterans and local communities. The visit underscored the Army leadership’s continued focus on operational readiness, people-centric engagement, and safeguarding peace and security in sensitive border regions.
