The Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, hosted the Diploma Award Ceremony on 3 March 2026, where Officer Cadets of the Passing Out Course were awarded diplomas in Information Technology and Cyber Security by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.

The initiative was conducted under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between OTA Chennai and SRM Institute, marking the first time that Officer Cadets of the academy have been awarded a diploma in IT and Cyber Security.

The specialised curriculum covered key areas such as Cyber Security, Data Protection and IT Fundamentals, equipping future officers with technological knowledge essential for operating in the modern battlefield environment.

The awards were conferred by Dr C Muthamizh Chelvan, Vice Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, and Lieutenant General Michael A.J. Fernandez, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Commandant of OTA Chennai.
The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s growing emphasis on integrating digital capabilities, cyber awareness and technological proficiency into officer training to prepare leaders for the evolving challenges of modern warfare.
