Lieutenant General HS Vandra, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Madhya Bharat Area, visited the 506 Army Base Workshop to review the establishment’s technical capabilities and operational readiness.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on the workshop’s role in maintaining, repairing and sustaining critical equipment of the Indian Army, which is essential for ensuring operational efficiency across formations.

Lt Gen Vandra appreciated the exemplary professionalism, technical expertise and skill utilisation of the workforce, acknowledging their vital contribution in keeping key military platforms and systems mission-ready.
Emphasising the importance of self-reliance in defence capabilities, the GOC highlighted the need to strengthen Atmanirbharta through focused In-House Research and Development (IR&D) initiatives.

He also encouraged personnel to adopt innovative methods and modern technologies to enhance overhaul capacity, improve technical efficiency and further strengthen the Indian Army’s maintenance and support ecosystem.

The visit underscored the Army’s continued focus on innovation, technological advancement and indigenous solutions to sustain combat readiness and operational effectiveness.
