An Indian Army soldier, Sepoy Akshit Sharma, has gone missing during a military exercise in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting an extensive search and rescue operation.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Sepoy Sharma reportedly slipped and fell into the Munawar Tawi river while participating in the exercise. Fellow soldiers present at the location immediately attempted rescue efforts, but he could not be recovered.
Massive Search Operation Launched
Army authorities have launched a dedicated search and rescue operation in the river and surrounding areas to trace the missing soldier. Rescue teams are continuing efforts despite challenging terrain and water conditions.
Officials said that troops and local rescue teams are combing the area, while efforts remain focused on locating the soldier as quickly as possible.
Soldier with Seven Years of Service
Sepoy Akshit Sharma has reportedly been serving in the Indian Army for around seven years. The incident occurred during routine training activities conducted by Army units in the region.
Authorities have not yet released further operational details, and search efforts are ongoing.
