Indian Navy Holds Maiden NATAA–WOT Conclave at Western Naval Command

Focus on improving trial processes, design coordination, and timely delivery of combat-ready warships.

The Western Naval Command hosted the maiden NATAA–WOT Conclave on March 25, 2026, marking a significant step towards enhancing coordination in warship trials and acceptance processes within the Indian Navy.

The conclave, organised under the Naval Trials and Acceptance Authority (NATAA) and Warship Overseeing Teams (WOT), was co-chaired by Rear Admiral Sanjay Adhana and Rear Admiral Sujit Baxi, Director General Warship Design Bureau (DG WDB), who joined via video conference.

The event witnessed participation from delegates of the Warship Design Bureau, production directorates at Naval Headquarters, trial teams, and WOTs from across the Navy.

The primary objective of the conclave was to enhance synergy between trial units and overseeing teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, combat-ready naval platforms.

Key discussions focused on improving workmanship, addressing design-related challenges, rationalising inspection and trial procedures, and streamlining acceptance processes for newly constructed warships.

Deliberations remained aligned with the Indian Navy’s broader vision of building a “combat-ready, credible, cohesive, and future-ready force” capable of safeguarding national maritime interests anytime, anywhere.

The conclave underscores the Navy’s commitment to strengthening indigenous shipbuilding processes and ensuring operational readiness through improved coordination and efficiency.
