An alleged incident of assault involving the family of a serving Indian Army Brigadier has sparked concern over law enforcement response in South West Delhi’s Vasant Enclave area.
According to a written complaint submitted by the family, the incident occurred on the night of April 11 when they objected to two individuals allegedly consuming alcohol inside a car parked near their residence.
Situation Escalates into Assault
The complaint states that the situation escalated after the individuals reportedly called additional people to the scene. A group of around 7–8 men allegedly arrived in multiple vehicles and assaulted the Brigadier’s son, causing injuries, and also manhandled the officer.
Allegations of Police Inaction
The family has alleged that despite calling the emergency helpline (112), and a PCR vehicle reaching the location, no effective intervention was made during the incident, which reportedly unfolded in front of police personnel.
Following the incident, the family approached the Delhi Police station in Vasant Vihar to lodge a complaint. However, they claim that an FIR was not immediately registered and that they were denied prompt medical assistance.
The injured were later taken to a military hospital for treatment.
Complaint Filed, Probe Likely
A formal written complaint has now been submitted, and the matter is expected to be taken up by authorities for investigation. The incident has raised serious concerns regarding public safety, response protocols, and accountability of law enforcement agencies.
Call for Action
The case highlights the need for swift police response, strict action against public disorder and assault, and adherence to due process, especially in sensitive situations involving violence.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the matter.
