Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of the Assam Rifles, called on Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, SYSM, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, at Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.
The interaction focused on the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness, and issues of mutual interest, with emphasis on strengthening coordination and synergy between the two formations operating in counter-insurgency environments.
Over the past two days, Lt Gen Lakhera has also visited multiple Assam Rifles battalions deployed in counter-insurgency roles across Jammu and Kashmir. During these visits, he reviewed operational readiness and interacted with troops deployed on the ground.
The engagements highlighted the continued focus of the security forces on maintaining high operational preparedness, effective coordination, and sustained vigilance in sensitive areas of the region.
