Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), virtually inaugurated new squadrons at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) on May 26, 2026, reaffirming the Indian Navy’s commitment towards shaping the next generation of maritime leaders.
The augmentation of INA’s trainee capacity to an eight-squadron configuration marks a significant milestone in strengthening the Navy’s training ecosystem and expanding its capability to prepare future officers for evolving operational demands.

Addressing the occasion, Admiral Tripathi emphasised that the inauguration represented far more than an infrastructure expansion, describing it as a strategic investment in the Navy’s most vital asset — its human capital, the men and women in white uniforms.
The CNS highlighted the pivotal role of the Indian Naval Academy in preparing future officers for an increasingly complex and technology-driven maritime environment while continuing to instil the enduring core values of Duty, Honour, and Courage.

Describing INA as a shining example of “Vision Into Reality” and among the finest naval academies in the world, Admiral Tripathi encouraged cadets to fully utilise the academy’s world-class training environment in preparation for a lifetime of dedicated service to the nation and the Navy.

Officials stated that the expansion reflects the Indian Navy’s growing focus on modern training infrastructure, leadership development, and capability enhancement to support future operational requirements in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
