Major Prabhat Mishra of the 22 Kumaon has brought laurels to the Indian Army by graduating as a distinguished scholar from the prestigious US Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, United States.
Demonstrating exceptional academic excellence and leadership, Maj Mishra graduated among the top one percent of the course, securing an outstanding 4th position out of 1,185 military officers, including 129 international officers from 93 countries.
During the course, he achieved a rare distinction by winning multiple prestigious awards, setting new benchmarks for Indian military officers attending the institution.
Historic Award Wins
Maj Mishra became the first Indian officer since 1948 to receive the prestigious Birrer-Brooks Award for the Best Master of Military Art and Science Thesis. His award-winning thesis was titled:
“India’s Pursuit of Military Strategic Autonomy in a Multipolar World.”
He also became the first Indian officer ever to receive the highly coveted Douglas MacArthur Military Leadership Award, which recognises outstanding leadership, professionalism and military excellence.
In addition, he was awarded the Golden Pen Award for his scholarly contributions and academic excellence throughout the course.
