CME Pune Convocation Ceremony: 46 Officers Awarded Degrees in M Tech and TES Courses

The successful completion of these courses by officers from India and friendly foreign countries also highlighted CME’s role in strengthening military cooperation, technical collaboration, and shared learning among partner armies.

46 Officers Awarded Degrees in M Tech and TES Courses

In a solemn and prestigious convocation ceremony held at the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune, on 04 June 2026, degrees were conferred upon 46 officers from three distinguished technical courses. The ceremony marked an important academic and professional milestone for the graduating officers, who successfully completed advanced training in engineering and technology-related disciplines.

The graduating batch included 16 officers from the M Tech Civil Structural Engineering Course, 13 officers from the M Tech Electrical Energy Systems Course, and 17 officers from the Technical Entry Scheme (TES-45) Civil and Mechanical courses. Among the graduating officers were 11 officers from friendly foreign countries, reflecting CME Pune’s continued role as a centre of excellence not only for the Indian Army but also for partner nations.

Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command (ARTRAC), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His presence added significance to the ceremony, which celebrated the successful culmination of rigorous academic training, technical learning, and professional development.

Addressing the graduating officers, Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma described the convocation as a defining milestone in their professional and academic journey. He congratulated the officers on completing their respective courses and highlighted the importance of continuous learning in the modern military environment.

The General Officer exhorted the officers to embrace lifelong learning and remain updated with the rapidly evolving technological landscape. He stressed that technology is transforming the nature of warfare, infrastructure development, combat engineering, energy systems, and battlefield support, making it essential for officers to constantly upgrade their knowledge and skills.

He also emphasised the ethical use of technology, guided by the principles of integrity, responsibility, and accountability. Lieutenant General Sharma urged the officers to apply their technical expertise with a strong sense of duty and purpose, ensuring that innovation remains aligned with national interest and military values.

The GOC-in-C, ARTRAC, further called upon the officers to cultivate leadership qualities and contribute meaningfully to the Nation and the Indian Army through professional excellence and selfless service. He underlined that the officers graduating from CME would play a vital role in strengthening the technical capabilities of the Armed Forces and supporting operational preparedness in an increasingly complex security environment.

The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of coveted academic honours to outstanding performers from the graduating courses.

In the M Tech Civil Structural Engineering stream, the prestigious Gold Medal was conferred upon Captain Kinga Wangdi of the Royal Bhutan Army. The GOC-in-C, ARTRAC Best Student Book Prize in the same stream was awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Pawan Kumar Dubey.

In the M Tech Electrical Energy Systems stream, Lieutenant Colonel Sourab Gupta achieved distinction by receiving both the Gold Medal and the GOC-in-C, ARTRAC Best Student Book Prize.

In the Technical Entry Scheme course, Lieutenant Ashutosh Singh was awarded the Gold Medal, while Lieutenant Nirmal Chandra Bhatt received the GOC-in-C, ARTRAC Best Student Book Prize.

As part of the ceremony, the student officers also presented projects on contemporary and operationally relevant topics. These projects addressed critical Problem Definition Statements of the Indian Army, showcasing the practical application of their academic learning to real-world military challenges.

The project presentations reflected CME Pune’s strong focus on innovation, applied research, and solution-oriented technical education. By encouraging officers to work on operationally relevant problems, the institution continues to contribute towards enhancing the technological and engineering capabilities of the Indian Army.

The College of Military Engineering, Pune, is one of the premier training institutions of the Indian Army and has played a crucial role in grooming officers in the fields of military engineering, combat engineering, infrastructure development, and advanced technical domains. The convocation ceremony reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, professional competence, and nation-building.

The successful completion of these courses by officers from India and friendly foreign countries also highlighted CME’s role in strengthening military cooperation, technical collaboration, and shared learning among partner armies.
