Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, visited the Headquarters Western Air Command and interacted with senior functionaries of the Indian Air Force command responsible for safeguarding India’s western and northern airspace.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma called on Air Marshal George Thomas, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Western Air Command, for high-level discussions on strengthening joint operational preparedness and enhancing inter-service cooperation.
The two commanders deliberated on measures to improve joint operational readiness, foster closer coordination between the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, and further strengthen integrated responses to emerging security challenges.
Discussions focused on enhancing synergy in operational planning, information sharing, force integration and coordinated execution of missions across multiple domains. The interaction also underscored the importance of seamless cooperation between the two Services in maintaining national security and responding effectively to evolving threats.

Both commanders emphasised the need for well-knit coordination and jointness in modern military operations, where the integration of land and air power plays a crucial role in achieving operational objectives.
The meeting reflected the Armed Forces’ continued commitment to promoting interoperability and strengthening joint warfighting capabilities in line with the vision of integrated theatre operations and future force transformation.
Officials noted that regular interactions between senior Army and Air Force leadership contribute significantly to improving operational effectiveness, enhancing mutual understanding and ensuring a coordinated approach towards national defence.
The visit also highlighted the growing focus on joint training, operational integration and capability development aimed at addressing complex security challenges in an increasingly dynamic strategic environment.
The engagement reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force and their shared commitment to maintaining a high state of preparedness, operational excellence and mission readiness in defence of the nation.
