Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Eastern Naval Command, visited the Directorate of Marine Design Engineering (DMDE) and Controller of Naval Armament (Depot Production) [CNA(DP)] in Hyderabad to review ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening indigenous capability development and operational readiness.
During the visit, the FOC-in-C appreciated the innovative efforts undertaken by both establishments towards the indigenisation of naval equipment and armament. He commended their collaboration with industry partners in developing indigenous technologies and enhancing capability-building, reinforcing the Indian Navy’s commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat and self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

Vice Admiral Bhalla reviewed the progress of various projects and highlighted the importance of innovation, research and industry collaboration in equipping the Navy with advanced, indigenous systems capable of meeting future operational requirements.
The Eastern Naval Command chief also reviewed the activities and operational progress of Indian Navy units in the Hyderabad and Secunderabad region, assessing their administrative efficiency, infrastructure and ongoing initiatives supporting naval operations.

As part of the visit, he interacted with Naval Veterans, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the service and reaffirming the Indian Navy’s unwavering commitment to their welfare and well-being. He emphasised the importance of maintaining strong engagement with the veteran community while ensuring continued support through various welfare initiatives.
