In a historic achievement for Indian athletics, Chief Petty Officer (PT) Ancy Sojan of the Indian Navy created a new National Record in the Women’s Long Jump with a remarkable leap of 6.88 metres at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar.
The outstanding performance eclipsed the previous national record of 6.83 metres, set by legendary long jumper Anju Bobby George in 2004, ending a record that had stood for 22 years.
Ancy’s record-breaking jump marks a significant milestone in Indian athletics and reflects years of dedication, disciplined training and sporting excellence.
