Air Marshal PV Shivanand, AVSM, VM, assumed charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the South Western Air Command (SWAC) of the Indian Air Force on 1 July 2026, succeeding Air Marshal Tejinder Singh.
Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in December 1988, Air Marshal Shivanand brings with him nearly four decades of distinguished operational, command and leadership experience.

Prior to his new appointment, he served as the Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) at Headquarters Central Air Command, where he played a key role in enhancing operational preparedness and capability development.
Throughout his illustrious career, Air Marshal Shivanand has held several important command and staff appointments, earning a reputation for professional excellence and strategic leadership. His elevation to head the South Western Air Command reflects the Indian Air Force’s confidence in his extensive operational expertise and leadership abilities.

As the new Commander of one of the Indian Air Force’s most strategically significant operational commands, Air Marshal PV Shivanand will oversee air operations and combat preparedness across India’s western sector while steering the command towards enhanced operational readiness and future capability development.
