Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, addressed all ranks during the Quarterly Sainik Sammelan held at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (HQ DGAR), Laitkor, Shillong, on 30 June 2026.
During his address, the Director General underscored the importance of professionalism, discipline, operational preparedness and remaining abreast of the evolving global security environment. He also apprised the troops of the Force’s recommendations for the 8th Pay Commission and the recently introduced promotion policies aimed at enhancing career progression, while urging all personnel to exercise responsibility in the use of social media.
Recognising exemplary service, Lt Gen Lakhera felicitated the ‘Soldiers of the Month’ and presented DG’s Commendation Cards to personnel for their outstanding performance, dedication and distinguished service. He encouraged all ranks to continue striving for excellence and uphold the highest traditions of the Assam Rifles in safeguarding national security.
