ECHS Sets Up Help Desk at Retiring Officers’ Seminar to Enhance Veteran Support

The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Regional Centre-II, functioning under the Delhi Area, established a dedicated ECHS Information Cell-cum-Help Desk during the Retiring Officers’ Seminar held at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. The initiative aimed to provide retiring officers and veterans with comprehensive guidance on healthcare benefits, policies and post-retirement services.

The help desk served as a single-point assistance centre, enabling retiring officers to obtain accurate information on various beneficiary-centric issues and facilitating a smoother transition from active military service to veteran healthcare support under the ECHS.

Officials at the information cell provided detailed guidance on ECHS entitlements, existing policies and operational procedures. Participants were also briefed on the network of empanelled hospitals and ECHS polyclinics available across the country, ensuring they are well informed about the medical facilities accessible to them and their dependents after retirement.

A key focus of the initiative was creating awareness about the upgraded ECHS Mobile App, which has been introduced to simplify access to healthcare services. Officers were familiarised with the app’s features, including digital services, information access and improved user convenience for beneficiaries.

The help desk also highlighted the importance of mandatory annual validation of dependents, an essential requirement for uninterrupted healthcare benefits under the ECHS. Officials guided attendees through the validation process and addressed queries related to documentation and eligibility, helping prevent delays in availing medical services.

The seminar reflected the Indian Army’s continued commitment to the welfare of its veterans by ensuring that retiring personnel receive timely information and practical assistance before transitioning into civilian life. By addressing common concerns and simplifying administrative procedures, the initiative sought to make the ECHS experience more efficient and user-friendly.

Through such beneficiary-focused outreach programmes, the Delhi Area continues to strengthen veteran support mechanisms while promoting greater awareness of healthcare services available to former servicemen and their families. The initiative underscores the Armed Forces’ enduring commitment to those who have served the nation with dedication, ensuring they continue to receive informed assistance and quality healthcare throughout their post-retirement years.
