During the visit, the Corps Commander interacted extensively with officers and troops and reviewed measures being undertaken to strengthen the formation’s operational effectiveness. The visit reflected the Indian Army’s continuing emphasis on maintaining high levels of preparedness while integrating emerging technologies and innovative solutions into field formations.

Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla commended the troops for their high morale, motivation, professional commitment and training standards. He appreciated the dedication displayed by personnel and their efforts towards maintaining a high degree of readiness for operational responsibilities.

A major focus of the visit was the formation’s emphasis on technology infusion and innovation. Modern military operations increasingly require formations to combine conventional combat skills with advanced surveillance, communications, unmanned systems, digital technologies and other force multipliers.

The Corps Commander appreciated initiatives aimed at integrating technology into operational planning and execution. Such capability-building measures are intended to improve situational awareness, responsiveness and the overall effectiveness of troops operating in increasingly complex battlefield environments.

Innovation at the formation level has also become an important component of the Indian Army’s modernisation efforts. Field formations are being encouraged to identify operational challenges and develop practical solutions that can improve mobility, surveillance, communications, protection, logistics and battlefield effectiveness.

Lt Gen Shukla emphasised that technological capability must be accompanied by high standards of individual soldiering. He exhorted all ranks to maintain excellent levels of physical fitness, mental resilience and professional competence.

Physical fitness remains fundamental to military preparedness, particularly for troops who may be required to operate for extended periods under demanding field conditions. Mental resilience is equally important as modern military operations can involve prolonged deployments, rapidly changing situations and considerable psychological pressure.

The GOC also placed particular emphasis on cyber awareness among personnel. As military organisations become increasingly dependent on digital communications and networked technologies, cybersecurity has emerged as an essential element of operational security.

Individual personnel can potentially become targets of cyber threats, phishing attempts, social engineering and other forms of digital exploitation. Maintaining awareness of such threats is therefore increasingly important for protecting both personal information and sensitive military information.

Lt Gen Shukla also highlighted responsible social media usage and the judicious use of smartphones. The widespread availability of smartphones and social networking platforms has created new operational-security challenges for militaries around the world.

Photographs, videos, location information and seemingly routine social media activity can unintentionally reveal details about military deployments, equipment, movements or personnel. Responsible digital behaviour has consequently become an important component of operational security and military discipline.

The emphasis on smartphone usage reflects the changing nature of security in the digital age. Soldiers today operate in an environment where information can be transmitted instantly and where adversaries can potentially exploit publicly available digital information for intelligence purposes.

Cyber hygiene, careful handling of personal devices and adherence to established social media guidelines therefore complement traditional military security measures.

The Gajraj Corps is an important formation of the Indian Army responsible for operational preparedness in a strategically significant region of the country. Its formations maintain readiness across varied terrain while continuously undertaking training and capability-enhancement activities.

Visits by senior commanders to field formations allow operational preparedness to be assessed directly and provide commanders with an opportunity to interact with personnel at different levels. They also enable evaluation of training standards, technology induction and locally developed innovations.

Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla’s visit to Hattigor brought together several important aspects of contemporary military preparedness: combat readiness, training, physical fitness, mental resilience, technological adaptation and digital security.

His appreciation of the formation’s focus on technology infusion and innovation highlights the Indian Army’s wider transition towards a more technologically enabled force while retaining the soldier as the central element of operational effectiveness.

The message of “Strength in Preparedness, Excellence in Action” reflected the broader focus of the visit. While modern equipment and emerging technologies are increasingly shaping warfare, disciplined training, motivated personnel and professional competence remain fundamental to battlefield effectiveness.

By emphasising physical fitness and mental resilience alongside cyber awareness and responsible smartphone and social media usage, the Corps Commander highlighted the increasingly diverse responsibilities placed upon the modern soldier.

The visit concluded with Lt Gen Shukla encouraging all ranks to continue striving for the highest standards of professionalism and operational excellence. His interaction with the troops reaffirmed the Gajraj Corps’ focus on readiness, innovation and continuous capability enhancement to meet present and emerging operational challenges.
