Lt Gen Ajay Ramdev, SM, Director General Integrated Training and President, Army Sports Control Board, flagged off the 3rd India-Argentina Joint Army Mountaineering Expedition to Mt Kamet in New Delhi.
The expedition to Mt Kamet, which stands at an altitude of 7,756 metres in Uttarakhand, brings together personnel from the Indian Army and Argentine Army for a challenging high-altitude mountaineering endeavour.
Led by Lt Col Chirag Chatterjee, the expedition comprises 25 personnel from the Indian Army and 10 personnel from the Argentine Army, combining military experience and mountaineering expertise from both countries.

The expedition is aimed at strengthening military cooperation between India and Argentina while providing an opportunity for personnel of the two Armies to operate together in a demanding high-altitude environment.
The joint expedition will also promote mutual trust and understanding between the participating forces and provide opportunities for the exchange of mountaineering techniques, operational experiences and best practices.
The challenging climb is expected to test the participants’ physical endurance, mental resilience, teamwork and ability to operate effectively in extreme mountain conditions.
The expedition further reflects the growing defence engagement between India and Argentina and highlights the role of joint adventure activities in strengthening military-to-military relations.

Through shared challenges and collective endeavour, the expedition is expected to enhance interoperability and camaraderie between the two Armies while fostering a deeper understanding of high-altitude operations and mountaineering.
The Mt Kamet expedition marks another significant step in strengthening bilateral military cooperation and providing personnel from both countries with an opportunity to learn, collaborate and demonstrate their professional and mountaineering skills in one of the world’s challenging high-altitude environments.
