Lieutenant General Neeraj Shukla, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps, visited Tamulpur Military Station and interacted with troops, emphasising the need for military formations to remain agile, adaptable and innovation-driven in response to the continuously evolving character of modern warfare.
During the visit, Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla reviewed the formation’s professional efforts and highlighted the importance of adapting training, operational concepts and capabilities to meet emerging battlefield challenges.
The Corps Commander stressed that agility and adaptability have become increasingly important as technological developments rapidly transform the nature of military operations. Contemporary battlefields are witnessing the growing employment of unmanned aerial systems, counter-drone technologies, electronic warfare, advanced surveillance systems, precision weapons and network-enabled capabilities.
Military formations must therefore continuously evaluate emerging threats and develop innovative solutions suited to their operational requirements. The ability to rapidly absorb technology and translate new ideas into practical battlefield capabilities can significantly contribute to operational effectiveness.
Lt Gen Shukla’s emphasis on innovation also reflects the Indian Army’s broader focus on encouraging troops and formations to develop indigenous and field-oriented solutions to operational challenges.
Innovation at the formation and unit level can be particularly valuable because soldiers operating equipment under actual field conditions are often well positioned to identify capability gaps and develop practical improvements.
During his visit to Tamulpur Military Station, the GOC felicitated outstanding achievers and innovators in recognition of their performance and contribution.
The recognition of innovators highlights the growing importance being placed on encouraging creativity and problem-solving within military formations. Such initiatives can range from improvements to existing equipment and training methodologies to locally developed technological solutions addressing specific operational requirements.
Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla also commended the formation for its dedication, professionalism and continued pursuit of operational excellence.

Maintaining high operational standards requires formations to continuously train for a wide spectrum of contingencies while ensuring personnel, equipment and support systems remain prepared for deployment whenever required.
The changing character of warfare has made this process increasingly complex. Alongside conventional combat capabilities, formations must now remain prepared to operate in environments shaped by drones, electronic warfare, information operations, advanced sensors and rapidly evolving technologies.
Adaptability consequently becomes an important attribute at both the individual and organisational levels. Units capable of learning from exercises, operational experiences and technological developments are better positioned to modify their tactics and procedures as battlefield conditions evolve.

The emphasis on remaining innovation-driven also encourages greater participation by younger officers and soldiers in developing solutions to challenges encountered during training and operational deployments.
Such a culture can complement institutional capability-development programmes by enabling practical ideas generated at the field level to be evaluated and, where appropriate, adopted more widely.
The visit to Tamulpur Military Station provided the Gajraj Corps Commander with an opportunity to recognise personnel demonstrating these qualities while reinforcing expectations regarding operational preparedness and professional excellence.
Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla’s interaction with the formation ultimately underscored that future military effectiveness will depend not only on acquiring advanced equipment but also on developing personnel and organisations capable of adapting quickly to technological and operational change.
By recognising outstanding achievers and innovators and encouraging formations to remain agile and adaptable, Gajraj Corps continues to promote a culture focused on preparedness, innovation and operational excellence in an increasingly complex security environment.
