Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, UYSM, AVSM, SM, QMG, IHQ of MoD (Army), visited the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) Centre & College on August 27, 2026, to review the institution’s specialised military veterinary, K9 and equine capabilities.
During the visit, Lt Gen Srivastava was briefed on the Centre & College’s ongoing activities, with particular focus on advanced training, capability development and modern infrastructure supporting the operational employment and care of military animals.
The visit provided an opportunity to witness the specialised capabilities being developed across the fields of military veterinary services, canine operations and equine support. These capabilities continue to play an important role in supporting the operational requirements of the Indian Army.
The RVC Centre & College has a critical role in developing professional expertise and maintaining high standards in military veterinary services. Its training infrastructure and specialised facilities contribute towards preparing personnel and animal assets for the demanding requirements of military operations.
Lt Gen Srivastava reviewed the institution’s efforts towards modernising its training and infrastructure capabilities. The emphasis on contemporary training methods and improved facilities reflects the Army’s broader focus on developing capabilities that remain relevant to evolving operational requirements.
The visit also highlighted the growing importance of trained military working dogs in areas such as surveillance, detection and specialised operational support. Similarly, equine capabilities continue to form an important part of the Army’s specialised operational and ceremonial traditions.
