Officer Cadets of the passing-out courses at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya, were recognised for excellence in training, academics, sports and military skills during the prestigious Final Award Ceremony held ahead of their Passing Out Parade.
Lieutenant General Sandeep Singh, Commandant of OTA Gaya, presided over the ceremony and commended the Officer Cadets for their outstanding performance and dedication throughout their rigorous training at the academy.
The Final Award Ceremony marks an important milestone in the journey of Officer Cadets as they approach the culmination of their training and prepare to step into leadership roles in the Indian Army.
During the ceremony, cadets who distinguished themselves in various fields were recognised for their achievements. Their performance was assessed across a broad spectrum of military and academic activities, including physical training, sports, academics, marksmanship, drill and equitation.
Lieutenant General Sandeep Singh praised the Officer Cadets for the discipline, determination and professional standards demonstrated during their training. The achievements reflected the demanding training environment at OTA Gaya, where future military leaders are prepared for the physical, intellectual and leadership challenges of service in the Armed Forces.
One of the major honours of the ceremony was the Commandant’s Banner, awarded to the battalion demonstrating the best overall performance across the academy’s various training disciplines.
Khetarpal Battalion emerged as the winner of the coveted Commandant’s Banner after demonstrating exemplary discipline, consistent performance and steadfast commitment throughout the training term.
Winning the banner represents a collective achievement for the Officer Cadets of the battalion and recognises their performance across multiple aspects of academy life rather than excellence in a single discipline.
Named after India’s legendary war hero Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, Param Vir Chakra, Khetarpal Battalion carries a name synonymous with courage and sacrifice. Second Lieutenant Khetarpal was posthumously awarded India’s highest wartime gallantry award for his extraordinary bravery during the 1971 India-Pakistan War.
The Final Award Ceremony also serves as one of the concluding events for the Passing Out Courses before the Officer Cadets participate in their Passing Out Parade, marking the successful completion of their training.
As the cadets prepare to move beyond the academy, the recognition earned during the ceremony highlights the standards of discipline, physical fitness, military proficiency and leadership expected of India’s future Army officers.
The achievement of Khetarpal Battalion in securing the Commandant’s Banner adds another proud chapter to the academy’s tradition of fostering competition, camaraderie and excellence among its Officer Cadets.
