For Ritika, the decision to pursue a career in the Armed Forces was particularly significant because she is the first member of her family to choose this path. In September 2025, she joined the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, beginning a transformative chapter that would test and further develop the qualities she had cultivated throughout her life. The academy’s rigorous training environment demanded physical resilience, mental agility, discipline and the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
For an individual who had grown up with limited access to resources and guidance, reaching OTA Chennai represented not merely a professional achievement but also the culmination of years of persistence. The transition from a small village in Gorakhpur to a premier military training environment required her to adapt to a completely new set of challenges while maintaining the same determination that had characterised her academic and sporting journey.
Her experience at OTA further strengthened her physical resilience and mental agility while providing an environment in which her leadership potential could develop. The qualities nurtured through athletics, volunteering and academics were now being tested in a military setting where individual performance is closely linked to teamwork, discipline and responsibility.
