Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma reviewed the counter-terrorism grid in South Kashmir on Saturday, taking stock of the prevailing security situation and the operational preparedness of troops deployed in the region.
During the review, Lt Gen Sharma was briefed on the current security scenario and measures being undertaken by formations responsible for counter-terrorism operations in the region.
The Army Commander emphasised adaptability, precision, sustained vigilance and synergy as critical enablers for successful intelligence-driven operations. He stressed that these factors remain essential for ensuring a rapid and effective response to emerging security challenges.
The emphasis on intelligence-led operations and coordination reflects the Army’s continuing effort to maintain a robust counter-terrorism grid in South Kashmir and remain prepared for evolving threats.
Lt Gen Sharma also interacted with troops deployed in the region and appreciated their indomitable spirit and dedication towards maintaining security. He commended personnel for their commitment to keeping the region free from terrorism and contributing towards peace and stability.
The latest assessment comes amid continued reviews of operational preparedness in South Kashmir. Earlier this month, Lt Gen Sharma had visited hinterland units in the region and stressed sustained alertness, mission readiness and close coordination among stakeholders while dealing with evolving security challenges.
The Northern Command oversees strategically sensitive areas across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, with counter-terrorism preparedness, intelligence-based operations and coordination among security agencies remaining important elements of its operational posture.
