The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps visited operational locations in the Surankote sector of Poonch district to review the prevailing security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region.
The Corps Commander was accompanied by the GOC of Romeo Force during the visit. Senior Army officers briefed him on the current security posture and focused operations being carried out across the hinterland areas of the Pir Panjal region.
According to the Army, the briefing covered ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining domination over the Pir Panjal Range, strengthening the joint intelligence network and ensuring close coordination among the Army and other security agencies operating in the region.
The Corps Commander reviewed the preparedness of troops deployed in the challenging terrain and assessed measures being taken to prevent terrorist elements from gaining operational space.
During his interaction with personnel, the GOC praised the professional conduct and commitment of troops and other security stakeholders involved in the operations. He also appreciated their continued efforts despite difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
The Army said sustained and coordinated counter-terrorism operations are being undertaken to maintain pressure on inimical elements and strengthen the security grid in the region.
The visit comes amid continued emphasis on intelligence-driven operations, inter-agency coordination and heightened vigilance across the Pir Panjal belt of Jammu and Kashmir.
