The Indian Army’s Shatrujeet Brigade welcomed a National Integration Tour contingent comprising 15 students and two teachers from Lhou Gompa in Arunachal Pradesh, providing the young visitors with an opportunity to experience the history, ethos and capabilities of the Army’s Airborne forces.
The visit was organised as part of efforts to strengthen national integration and deepen interaction between the Armed Forces and young people from different parts of the country.
During their interaction with the Shatrujeet Brigade, the students were introduced to the proud legacy and traditions associated with India’s Airborne forces. The visit offered them a closer understanding of the discipline, training and professionalism that underpin the operational capabilities of these specialised troops.
A key part of the programme was a visit to the Airborne Gallery, where the students explored the history of the Brigade and learned about the evolution of Airborne forces and their role in the Indian Army.
The contingent was also given an opportunity to see modern military equipment and specialised capabilities employed by the formation. The display provided the students with a glimpse of the technological advancements being incorporated by the Indian Army to enhance operational readiness.
For many of the young visitors, the tour offered rare first-hand exposure to military life and an opportunity to interact with Army personnel beyond what they may have encountered through books, classrooms or media.
National Integration Tours conducted by the Indian Army are intended to expose students, particularly those from remote and border regions, to different parts of the country, institutions and opportunities while encouraging greater interaction and understanding.
The participation of students from Lhou Gompa in Arunachal Pradesh also highlighted the role such initiatives can play in connecting young people from remote regions with national institutions.
Beyond showcasing military history and equipment, the interaction sought to inspire curiosity among the students and encourage them to understand the values of discipline, teamwork, service and commitment associated with the Armed Forces.
The visit concluded with the young participants gaining a broader perspective on the Indian Army’s Airborne forces, their heritage and their evolving operational capabilities.
The initiative reflected the Army’s continuing emphasis on strengthening its bond with the country’s youth while promoting national integration through meaningful interaction and exposure.
