New Delhi, September 28, 2026: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the Central Industrial Security Force to abolish all 34 sanctioned posts of its security wing at Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Pvt. Ltd. in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, nearly five months after the force withdrew its deployment from the premises.
The CISF ended its security presence at the establishment on 4 May 2026. In a letter issued earlier this month, the Ministry conveyed the decision for the “abolition of the undermentioned 34 posts consequent upon withdrawal of CISF Security Wing from Patanjali Food & Herbal Park, Private Limited, Haridwar (Uttarakhand) on May 4, 2026.”
The sanctioned strength comprised one Assistant Commandant, four Sub-Inspectors, two Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 11 Head Constables and 16 Constables. The order formally dissolves the entire manpower structure assigned to the security wing that had provided round-the-clock cover at the facility.
The Ministry has also instructed the CISF to ensure that “all pending and outstanding dues, if any, are reimbursed by the concerned management.” The communication has been marked to the Additional Director General (North), CISF, the Director General, CISF, the Chief Executive Officer of Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Pvt. Ltd., and other officials concerned.
The CISF had been providing security at the park since June 2015. The deployment followed a clash in May 2015 between the establishment’s security guards and supporters of a local truck union. The union was protesting the park’s engagement of truck operators from outside Haridwar for the transport of products. One person was killed in the incident. Ten persons, including yoga guru Swami Ramdev’s brother Rambharat, were arrested in connection with the case.
The security services were paid for by the administration of the food park under an arrangement in which the establishment reimbursed the Centre for the cost of the paramilitary deployment. The latest order brings to a close the sanctioned CISF structure at the Haridwar unit after more than a decade of deployment.
Official reports have not specified a detailed operational reason for the withdrawal of 4 May 2026 beyond the subsequent administrative decision to abolish the posts. The Ministry’s directive is limited to the abolition of the sanctioned strength and the recovery of any outstanding dues from the management.
