Lieutenant General Akhilesh Kumar, SM, VSM, has taken over command of the Indian Army’s Strike One Corps from Lieutenant General V Hariharan, AVSM, SM.
The change of command marks the beginning of a new chapter for one of the Indian Army’s key strike formations, which is tasked with maintaining a high degree of operational preparedness and readiness.
On assuming command, Lt Gen Akhilesh Kumar paid solemn tribute to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. The gesture honoured the soldiers whose courage and dedication form an enduring part of the Corps’ military heritage.
Addressing all ranks after taking over, the Corps Commander emphasised the importance of remaining focused on operational preparedness. He called upon personnel to continue performing their duties with utmost zeal, enthusiasm and commitment in the service of the nation.

Strike One, also known as I Corps, is one of the Indian Army’s major offensive formations. Its units and formations are trained to undertake large-scale operations and maintain readiness for deployment whenever required.
Lt Gen Akhilesh Kumar succeeds Lt Gen V Hariharan, AVSM, SM, who commanded the Corps before handing over responsibility to his successor.
Under its new Corps Commander, Strike One will continue to focus on combat preparedness, training, professional excellence and maintaining the high operational standards expected of one of the Army’s principal strike formations.
The assumption of command comes with a clear message to all ranks remain prepared, maintain the highest professional standards and continue serving the nation with dedication and resolve.
