November 1, 2026: The Indian Army’s Parbat Ali Warriors of Kharga Corps, Western Command, successfully completed a 15-day, 1,100-kilometre cycling expedition across Punjab to commemorate their Diamond Jubilee and honour the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
The expedition, organised under the theme “Pedalling with Pride – Honouring Valour, Inspiring Generations,” reflected the Indian Army’s commitment to remembering its fallen heroes, promoting adventure, strengthening civil-military relations and supporting the welfare of veterans.
The cycling expedition was flagged off by Brigadier RS Sidhu (Retd) and covered a route through Ambala, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Pathankot. Throughout the journey, the participating soldiers interacted with students, National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, military veterans and local communities.

A major objective of the expedition was to inspire young Indians to consider a career in the Armed Forces. Through interactions with students and NCC cadets, the team highlighted the values of discipline, courage, leadership and dedication associated with military service.
The expedition also placed significant emphasis on veterans’ welfare. During their journey, the Parbat Ali Warriors engaged with approximately 400 military veterans, documenting their welfare-related concerns and reinforcing the Indian Army’s continued commitment to the well-being of former service personnel.

The interactions provided an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between serving soldiers and veterans while acknowledging the contributions and sacrifices of those who have dedicated their lives to defending the nation.
Upon completion of the expedition, Lieutenant General Manish Luthra, AVSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Kharga Corps, formally flagged in the cycling team, marking the successful conclusion of the 1,100-kilometre journey.
The expedition celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of the Parbat Ali Warriors while demonstrating the Indian Army’s enduring traditions of camaraderie, remembrance, physical endurance and service to the nation.

Beyond its demanding physical journey, the initiative served as a tribute to fallen soldiers, an opportunity to engage with the younger generation and a reaffirmation of the Army’s commitment to veterans’ welfare and nation-building.
The successful completion of the expedition reflected the spirit of “Honouring Sacrifice, Strengthening Bonds and Inspiring Generations,” bringing together military heritage, adventure and community engagement.
