CDSE 2 2016 includes three different papers i.e English, Maths and General Knowledge for IMA, AFA and NA. For OTA candidates, there were only two papers i.e. English and General Knowledge. CDSE is conducted by UPSC twice every year. When comparing CDS 21 2016 from last exam, it was same.

English: There were no questions from synonyms and antonyms this time. They are usually the toughest part to crack. This English was definitely the easiest of all the 2-3 years CDS Papers. 20 Cutoff would be cleared easily even if one has basic English talking skills. Easily the scoring section of the three.

GK: This is the paper where students don’t generally clear the cut off. Since it is a UPSC organised exam, the questions required very deep and detailed general knowledge. However, the paper is set like that Graduates at least can get the full marks on the questions from their subject. Add to that the defense and some current affairs questions, if a candidate attempts carefully without going into much of negative marks, 20 marks were achievable.

Maths: As usual, time is the key. You solve the easy questions fast and later do the lengthy questions if time permit. Overall level was easy and required basic quantitative and mensuration skills.

Overall the paper was good enough for the candidates who have done preparation beforehand. UPSC may declare the results of CDSE 2 2016 in May – June 2016. CDSE 2 2016 cut off may go up to 115 Marks for AFA, 99 marks for IMA, 78 for OTA and 99 for NA.
