7 Indian Army soldiers lost their lives so far in a vehicle accident in Turtuk sector (Ladakh), grievous injuries to others too. Efforts on to ensure best medical care for injured, incl requisition of air effort from IAF to shift more serious ones to Western Command: Army Sources

Leh:A party of 26 soldiers was moving from the Transit Camp in Partapur to a forward location in Sub Sector Hanif. At approx 0900h, around 25km from Thoise, the vehicle skidded off the road and fell in Shyok river resulting in injuries to all occupants.

The vehicle carrying them skidded off the road and fell into a gorge, resulting in injuries to all of them, the officials said.

The rescue operation was carried out swiftly and all the soldiers were evacuated to a field hospital in Partapur, they said Seven of them succumbed to injuries, the officials said, adding much other personnel have also suffered grievous injuries and are undergoing treatment.

All 26 individuals have been evacuated to 403 Field Hospital at Partapur and Surgical teams from Leh have moved to Partapur. Seven individuals have been declared Fatal so far. There are grievous injuries to others as well.
