Lt Gen Manjinder Singh Visits High Altitude Warfare School, Encourages Ski Troops and Elbrus Team

In a significant visit to the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), took stock of the advanced training facilities and techniques being imparted to the Indian Army’s specialized mountain warfare units. The General Officer, who also holds the title of Colonel of the Madras Regiment, observed the training routines of the ski troops and the Elbrus team, which are integral to the army’s operations in harsh terrains.

During his visit, Lt Gen Singh was thoroughly briefed on the latest equipment used in mountain, snow warfare, and Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, highlighting the army’s commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities in extreme conditions. The General also took the opportunity to visit the Kanchenjunga Museum at the facility, where he appreciated the efforts made to preserve and celebrate the rich mountaineering history of the Indian Army.

Lt Gen Singh’s visit did not just stop at HAWS. He also visited the troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri Sector. There, he interacted with the units of the Madras Regiment, famously known as “Khuda Ke Bande” and encouraged the “Veer Madrassis” to continue their tradition of excellence and valor.
