Colonels of the Indian Army have successfully completed the Higher Defence Orientation Course at the College of Defence Management (CDM) in preparation for their Higher Command Courses abroad. The comprehensive program provided participants with in-depth knowledge and skills in Strategic Management, Financial Management, Research Methodology, and Decision Sciences.
The College of Defence Management, established in December 1970 as the Institute of Defence Management, is a premier Indian defense service training institution located in Secunderabad, Telangana. Sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, CDM is the only exclusive college in Asia dedicated to defense management training for the Armed Forces.
CDM aims to inculcate contemporary management thoughts, concepts, and practices in the senior leadership of the Indian Armed Forces. It offers two main courses: the Higher Defence Management Course and the Senior Defence Management Course. These programs cover a wide range of subjects, including national security imperatives, leadership potential, organizational development, economic concepts, information systems, decision-making, and research methodology.
The successful completion of the Higher Defence Orientation Course marks a significant milestone in the professional development of the participating Colonels, equipping them with the necessary tools to excel in higher command roles and contribute effectively to national security.
