The Chief of Army Staff, General Manoj Pande, presided over the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 146th course – the Spring Term of 2024 – at the National Defence Academy (NDA) on Tuesday. Addressing the cadets, General Pande lauded their dedication to the esteemed profession of soldiering.
“While each one of you comes from different backgrounds, one thing common is that you chose the profession of soldiering, which itself is a noble calling. Many youngsters of your age want to stand where you are today; however, only a few get selected and make the mark. So be proud of your achievements,” General Pande remarked.
Highlighting the evolving nature of warfare, driven by technological advancements in space, cyber, and information domains, General Pande stressed the importance of enhancing technical competencies to navigate future battlefields effectively. “In another year’s time, you will be commissioned officers and will be mandated to lead men and women in combat. The character of warfare is undergoing a profound change. Technologies, advancements in space, cyber, and information domains, and progression in the capabilities of conventional instruments of war are making the battle space more complex, contested, and lethal. To operate in the battlefield of tomorrow, you need to enhance your technical competency threshold,” he advised the young cadets.
Expressing his honor at addressing the cadets on such a significant occasion, General Pande noted the pride and hard work evident in their performance. “It is a great honor for me to address you at this momentous occasion in your life. It shall remain proudly etched in your heart and soul. I wish to compliment the parade commander and cadets of the parade for their immaculate turnout and excellent drill. Your hard work and rigorous training are evident in the military precision displayed by all of you this morning,” he said.
General Pande gave special recognition to the female cadets, commending them for epitomizing “Nari Shakti” and underscoring the armed forces’ commitment to inclusivity. “Female cadets of the parade truly epitomized Nari Shakti and our commitment towards an inclusive armed forces,” General Pande stated.
