The signing of the MoU marks a milestone in the ongoing efforts to mitigate risks and minimize casualties for Indian Army soldiers in the event of avalanche accidents, particularly in the challenging terrain of the Himalayan region.

Established in 2016, Tiranga Mountain Rescue (TMR) stands as India’s first professional ‘Mountain & Avalanche Rescue Organization,’ dedicated to the noble cause of safeguarding lives and ensuring the safety of military personnel operating in high altitude and mountainous environments.

The MoU between Surya Command and TMR signifies a collaborative effort to strengthen emergency response mechanisms and enhance the overall safety and well-being of Indian Army personnel deployed in high altitude areas under the jurisdiction of the Central Command.

By formalizing this partnership, both entities aim to streamline coordination, share resources, and leverage each other’s expertise to optimize rescue and relief efforts in the face of adversity.

The signing of the MoU underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of its personnel, especially those serving in challenging and hazardous environments.

The Central Command’s proactive approach towards bolstering emergency response capabilities reflects its dedication to ensuring the highest standards of operational readiness and welfare for its troops operating in mountainous regions.

Under the terms of the MoU, Surya Command and TMR will collaborate on various initiatives, including joint training exercises, capacity building programs, and knowledge exchange sessions aimed at enhancing the proficiency of personnel involved in mountain rescue operations.

Additionally, the partnership will facilitate the sharing of best practices, innovative techniques, and specialized equipment to optimize rescue missions and minimize response times in critical situations.

The signing ceremony, attended by senior officials from both Surya Command and TMR, served as a testament to the spirit of cooperation and solidarity between the Indian Army and civil society organizations dedicated to serving the nation’s defense interests.

It exemplified the ethos of ‘Seva Parmo Dharma’ (Service before Self) that guides the Indian Army in its mission to protect the nation and its citizens, even in the most challenging and demanding circumstances.
