Indian Army Advances 22 In-House Innovations for Production Following 'Inno-Yoddha 2024-25' Event

In a significant development for the Indian Army, 22 top in-house innovations are set to progress to production under the guidance of the Army Design Bureau, aimed at addressing the future requirements of field formations. These innovations are part of a comprehensive selection process that evaluated a total of 75 innovations submitted by personnel from various levels, including individual units and formation levels, ultimately consolidating feedback from respective Command Headquarters.

The selected innovations were showcased during the “Inno-Yoddha 2024-25” event held at the Manekshaw Centre. The event marked a moment of recognition as General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff, honored the soldiers who transformed creative ideas into viable solutions. He commended their efforts, emphasizing the importance of critical thinking and an innovative mindset within the ranks.

General Dwivedi highlighted the changing landscape of warfare, stating, “recent conflicts have shown that innovation is not just a word; it is a mindset. It is the spark that drives progress and shapes the future.” He acknowledged the dedication of personnel who devoted extensive time and research to develop their ideas, which are now part of a competitive process aimed at strengthening the armed forces and supporting national security.

The Inno-Yoddha initiative is an annual gathering that focuses on identifying and nurturing in-house innovations to solve existing capability gaps, enhance operational readiness, and improve logistical and training efficacy. Over the past four years, this initiative has resulted in remarkable advancements, including the filing of 26 Intellectual Property Rights and the successful execution of 21 innovations, underscoring the Army’s commitment to fostering creativity.

The Army has notably collaborated with the private sector for the implementation of several innovations. Of the innovations that have made significant strides, two—Exploder developed by FC Tech and Agniastra created by Red Kite Digital Tech—have already been implemented effectively. Meanwhile, a third innovation, Vidyut Rakshak, has been transferred to IS Trading Company for further development and potential deployment.

This initiative not only highlights the ingenuity within the Indian Army but also reflects the growing importance of innovation in military operations and broader defense strategies. The Army’s proactive approach to harnessing homegrown talent and solutions underscores a commitment to staying ahead in a rapidly evolving security landscape.
