Army Personnel Dies of Cardiac Arrest During Search Operation in Srinagar

In a tragic incident during a search operation in the upper regions of Srinagar, an army personnel succumbed to a cardiac arrest on Friday, officials reported. The operation was part of the ongoing security efforts in the forested area of Harwan, which comes in response to a recent encounter that took place in nearby Dachigam on Tuesday. During that encounter, a prominent Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, Junaid Ahmed Bhat, was neutralized. Bhat had been classified as a category “A” terrorist and was allegedly involved in a deadly attack on October 20 that resulted in the fatalities of a local doctor and six non-local laborers near a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal.

As security forces endeavored to conduct thorough searches in Faqeer Gujree, Dara, a locality in Harwan, the unfortunate incident occurred. Officials confirmed that the deceased army personnel was identified as Jasvinder Singh, a member of the 34 Assam Rifles unit. The search operations have been intensified since the encounter on Tuesday, covering extensive forest areas in a bid to locate any remaining terrorists.

The circumstances surrounding Singh’s death have underscored the perils faced by security forces during such high-stress operations, especially in challenging terrains. The operation illustrates the ongoing efforts by the Indian Army and security forces to counter militant threats in the region, a task complicated by the rugged landscape and the high emotional toll it can exact on personnel involved.
