Suryakiran Aerobatic Team Delights Hyderabad with Thrilling Air Show over Hussain Sagar Lake

In a spectacular display of skill and precision, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force captivated audiences with their breathtaking aerobatic maneuvers above the scenic Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad. As the team performed loops, rolls, crosses, and inverted flying, enthusiastic spectators cheered and waved the tricolour in celebration of their remarkable feats.

The display took place on Sunday, where the team leader, Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, conveyed a heartfelt message from the skies, saying, “Thank you Hyderabad! Mee prema ku shukhriya!!” The performance highlighted not only the technical prowess of the team but also their connection with the local community.

Established in 1996, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team, often referred to as SKAT, proudly holds the distinction of being Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic team. Among the elite few worldwide, the Suryakiran team has conducted over 700 displays throughout India and has showcased their professionalism at various international air shows in countries including China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and the UAE.

Comprising nine Hawk Mk 132 aircraft that fly in incredibly close formation, maintaining a mere five-metre distance from each other, the team is an impressive formation of 12 skilled pilots. Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi leads the team, supported by Deputy Leader Group Captain Sidhesh Kartik. The roster of talented pilots also includes Squadron Leaders Jasdeep Singh, Himkhush Chandel, Ankit Vashisth, Vishnu, Diwakar Sharma, and Gaurav Patel, alongside Wing Commanders Rajesh Kajla, Arjun Patel, Kuldeep Hooda, and Allen George.

The team’s success is bolstered by a dedicated technical crew led by Wing Commander Abhimanyu Tyagi, Squadron Leader Sandeep Dhayal, and Flight Lieutenant Manil Sharma. Flight Lieutenant Kanwal Sandhu serves as the team’s commentator and administrator, while Squadron Leader Sudharshan ensures the health and wellbeing of the pilots as the team doctor. United by their motto “Sadaiva Sarvottam,” which translates to “Always the Best,” the Suryakiran team exemplifies exceptional commitment to excellence and teamwork.

The vibrant display not only entertained the attendees but also served as a reminder of the nation’s pride in its armed forces and the dedicated individuals who make up the elite Suryakiran Aerobatic Team.
