Ex Army Officers Decades Old Love Letter Goes Viral India Post Joins Nostalgia Wave

A heartfelt glimpse into the past has taken social media by storm after an ex-Army officer shared a decades-old handwritten love letter online. The letter, dated 10 December 2001, was written by Singh’s then-girlfriend, now wife, fondly called Thakurain. Singh recalled that it was the first letter he received at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, soon after joining. At the time, cadets had to “earn” their letters through punishing exercises—anywhere between 100 to 500 push-ups, depending on the length of the letter. Since this one was unusually long, Singh had to endure 500 push-ups to receive it.

Comment of India Post

Reminiscing about those days, he said, “Those had been good times for letters, when passion went into writing them and the feelings lasted just as long.”

Social media users flooded the comments section with heartfelt reactions. One wrote, “This letter not only carries words but also love, emotions, and every single moment of your thoughts on each other.” Another highlighted a touching line: “The way she wrote ‘I hate the thought of you being punished for my letters’ is so cute.”

The viral moment serves as a gentle reminder that while texts and DMs disappear in seconds, handwritten letters carry timeless emotions that never fade.
