Likabali, Arunachal Pradesh – General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army, recently visited the ‘Drone Excellence Centre’ at Likabali Military Station, underscoring the military’s commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities through advanced drone technologies.
This visit is a significant part of the Indian Army’s broader initiative to embrace technological advancements, as encapsulated in the “Year of Tech Absorption” and the “Decade of Transformation” strategies.
During his visit, General Dwivedi was briefed on the centre’s in-house fabricated drones and the associated technologies, which are pivotal to the army’s efforts to bolster its tactical and strategic capabilities. The centre, located in a strategically important region, focuses on training personnel in drone fabrication, handling, and deployment, aiming to integrate these capabilities at the unit level to enhance operational preparedness.
The COAS lauded the spirit of innovation and technological absorption demonstrated by the ranks at the centre, encouraging further development to ensure that the Indian Army remains at the forefront of modern warfare. This initiative is part of a larger plan to equip every infantry battalion with a drone platoon and artillery regiments with counter-drone systems and loiter munitions, as previously announced by General Dwivedi during the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations.
