Lt Gen CG Muralidharan has assumed charge as the Director General of Medical Services (Army), succeeding Lt Gen Sadhna S Nair, AVSM, VSM, who retired on 30 September 2025 after over four decades of dedicated service to the nation.
An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, Lt Gen Muralidharan was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps in 1987. A distinguished radiologist, he has had an illustrious career spanning operational, administrative, and instructional roles.
His service across various medical echelons in the Northern and Western theatres has provided him with extensive experience in managing healthcare delivery in challenging operational environments.
As the new head of the Army Medical Services, Lt Gen Muralidharan’s focus will be on ensuring comprehensive healthcare for serving personnel, veterans, and their families. His priorities will include strengthening the medical preparedness of forward establishments, integrating modern technologies, and adapting medical support systems to meet the evolving nature of warfare and security challenges.
Under his leadership, the Army Medical Corps aims to uphold its enduring commitment to providing world-class healthcare to the Armed Forces community. Guided by its noble motto “Sarve Santu Niramayah” — meaning “May all be free from illness” — the Corps will continue to strive toward excellence in military medicine and welfare of its personnel.
