A two-week intensive training programme for probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from the Tamil Nadu Police was conducted at the Madras Regimental Centre (MRC), Wellington, from 6 to 18 October 2025. The course was designed to expose the trainee officers to military-style discipline, operational planning, and the tactical applications of modern technology in field operations.
During the training, the DSPs actively participated in exercises on basic military operations, small team tactics, and the handling of new-generation weapons and equipment. They also witnessed demonstrations on the integration of technology in operational environments, providing them with valuable insights into how the Indian Army leverages innovation and precision in mission execution.
The trainees were introduced to the glorious history and rich traditions of the Madras Regiment one of the oldest and most decorated infantry regiments of the Indian Army. The structured exposure not only enhanced their leadership and decision-making skills but also deepened their understanding of the military’s operational ethos and teamwork.
This unique collaboration between the Tamil Nadu Police and the Indian Army serves as a milestone in fostering stronger civil-military cooperation. The training is expected to enhance coordination, preparedness, and mutual understanding between police and military forces during joint operations and crisis response situations.
