Expert Remarks by Er. Kunal Kumar (Chief Mentor – NDA/CDS/AFCAT)

  • I would call this question paper as “Reasonably moderate” to “Straight forward” for serious NDA Aspirants. With 23 repeated questions in Mathematics section, 14 in physics, 7 in chemistry and 5 in Geography, 4 in History Section, NDA EXAM 2017 can be termed as. Of course, candidates with Science background will have an edge over non- science background Aspirants.

Congratulatory Remarks by Amrita Goswami (Co-Founder – Indus Academics)

  • It is certainly a proud moment for Indus Academics where 63 out of 100 questions in GAT paper-II and 23 questions in mathematics directly match our class assignments and MCQ booklet. Also 19 questions in NDA paper were same as that in our All India Test series. KUDOS to the INDUS team for setting new benchmarks and raising the bar for all coaching academies. We would ensure that all motivated aspirants achieve their objective of an officer position in one of the best Armed Forces in the world – Indian Armed Forces.

Mathematics Remarks by IIT Expert Er. Moksh Goyal (Mentor- IIT JEE )

  • Paper-I that consisted of 120 mathematics question included easy ,moderate as well as few lengthy questions on similar patterns with WBJEE, EAMCET , SCRA AND IIT JEE MAIN EXAM but the key to success is all about selecting the easy and moderate questions with accuracy. Mathematics questions were distributed evenly across Algebra , coordinate , Trigonometry and calculus Candidates who had armoured himself with solved previous papers definitely had advantage over others.

800 Women Will Join Indian Army Military Police

0
indian military police women

(PTI) The Army has finalised a plan to induct women in the military police, seen as a major move towards breaking gender barriers in the force. Adjutant General of the Army Lt. Gen. Ashwani Kumar said on Friday it planned to induct about 800 women in the military police with a yearly intake of 52 personnel. Another senior official, who did not wish to be named, said some of the women personnel would be gradually stationed in the conflict-torn Kashmir Valley to carry out various kinds of tasks such as frisking of women.

Women Can Join Indian Army Military Police Now

The Adjutant General said the decision to induct women in the Corps of the Military Police was taken keeping in view the “increasing needs for investigation against gender-specific allegations and crime”. The announcement — also being seen as a step towards the eventual opening up of doors to women in combat roles — came a day after Nirmala Sitharaman took over as the country’s first full-time woman defence minister

The decision was conveyed to former Army chiefs on Friday by incumbent Gen. Bipin Rawat at the biennial Chiefs’ Conclave where they were also apprised of the overall security challenges facing the country, including on the borders with China and Pakistan

“We have finalised the proposal of inducting women in the military police,” Kumar told reporters here. In an interview to PTI in June, Gen Rawat had said the Army was looking at inducting women jawans and the process would start with the induction of women into the military police corps

Currently, women are allowed in select areas such as the medical, legal, educational, signals and engineering wings of the Army

The role of the military police includes policing cantonments and army establishments, preventing breach of rules and regulations by soldiers, maintaining movement of soldiers as well as logistics during peace and war, handling prisoners of war and extending aid to civil police whenever required.

Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)

The process of induction is likely to start next year

About their proposed deployment in Kashmir, the senior official said women military personnel would assist in tasks such as frisking women, currently being carried out by women constables of the Jammu and Kashmir Police

“At present, whenever we have to frisk women, we take the help of local women police personnel,” Kumar said

However, it will be done is a phased manner and will be started with their deployment in peace stations, and then in conflict-prone areas

The Indian Army is yet to open doors for combat role for women. Very few countries have allowed women in combat roles

The exceptions include Germany, Australia, Canada, the US, Britain, Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, Sweden and Israel

Kumar also informed the Chiefs Conclave about approval given to a cadre review proposal, which is expected to benefit approximately 1.45 lakh Junior Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks (JCO/OR)

The upgradation is to take place over a span of five years and will endow higher career progressions of JCO/OR. The last cadre review was done in 1984, benefiting 22,000 JCOs/OR

Kumar also told the Chiefs Conclave that the Defence ministry had agreed to start residential Army Public Schools in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and Mamun in Punjab with a capacity of 2000 children each. This, he said, would cater to the growing needs of children of Army personnel of all ranks

As of now, the Army Welfare Educational Society (AWES) manages 137 schools and 11 professional colleges across the country.

Indian Navy UES Campus Interview Experience

0
NAVY UES CAMPUS INTERVIEW

5th September 2017. Today, I had the good fortune to attend the campus interview for UES NAVY JUNE 2018 course. Having been shortlisted as per cut off marks, we were called for RCCIIT College here in Kolkata and were told to report at 8.30 am.

I reached there on time and saw that there were a good number of candidates already present beforehand. We completed a number of formalities related to documentation and then proceeded to the Institute Auditorium for initial presentations.

There were 3 officers from the Eastern Naval Command who had come to assess us. The presiding officer was Captain Rahman, and accompanying him were Lt. Cmdr. Juneja and Lt. Cmdr. Das. All the officers were in the white navy uniforms and the uniforms were already inspiring an aura of awe and admiration from the crowd of aspirants there.

Soon, introductions were made and Captain Rahman addressed us. He gave it to us straight and kept his words to the point and concise. He informed us of the hardships, duties, and responsibilities that are part and parcel of the naval lifestyle. Afterwards, the session was opened to the audience as part of a Q&A interaction.

NAVY UES CAMPUS INTERVIEW
From the old days at 22 SSB Bhopal in 2014 while we were undergoing medicals for NDA 2 2013

Many candidates had their doubts cleared about the job profiles in the Indian Navy. Some of them asked relevant questions related to the current international socio-political sphere such as Indo-Pak and Indo-China relations. Regimentation in the navy and pays and perks of being a naval officer were also discussed at length.

At the end of this event, Captain Rahman explicitly made it clear that the interview process would be flexible and general awareness and personality would be given higher weightage than technical know-how in today’s proceedings. He explained that since we were all shortlisted based on recent semester marks of B. Tech that was enough as per his judgment to justify our technical qualifications. Rather, he felt that it was much more important to judge the personality and mettle of our character so as to render us suitable for the armed forces.

I was in group 1 and we were sent off to a conference room and seated in a semi-circular fashion around a table with Lt. Cmdr. Das sitting at the head. We were instructed to submit our application forms in an orderly fashion and passed it on to the first candidate forming a stack. He asked us to introduce ourselves one by one and speak for a couple of minutes. I was the last one to speak. My short interaction with the officer went as follows:

Me: “Good morning, ladies and gentleman. I am Mrinal. I am a CSE 4th year engineering-in-training from NSEC here in Kolkata. I belong to Bihar but, my father is posted at Deoghar in Jharkhand. I did my schooling from DAV School in Bhagalpur, Bihar and have been quite good with academics since early on. I am the youngest of three siblings. I have a keen interest in public speaking and identify as an orator/debater. (Here, the officer cross examined me regarding my public speaking credentials. I mentioned the events I had won accolades in and he asked me to continue).

Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)

I have played Badminton at school level but I also enjoy long distance running. (Again, the officer grilled me on my running. He asked me about my longest run (9.81km) and told me to rate myself as a runner (above average). I was asked my current pace (6 minutes per km) and further questioned on how I would perfect my pace to a little under 4 mins per km. I answered that due to additional study load in the last semester and CAT coaching, I have struggled to maintain my fitness and with a better degree of regularity, it won’t be a problem to match my pace to academy standards.) He was satisfied and did not question me further.

Then, we had a short GD on Demonetization which I took the initiative to introduce and tried to set the tone of the discussion. But soon, other group members in an attempt to overtake each other turned it into a frenzied banter. I tried to intervene but soon realized that it was futile and kept quiet. I felt the officer’s gaze in my peripheral vision and saw him smile. But I refrained from looking at him directly and tried my best to not make eye contact during the GD.

Instead, I made an effort towards listening to some of the points which were audible amidst the noise. Within another 45 seconds, the GD was called off the officer and we were thanked and asked to leave.

That was my UES NAVY campus interview. I feel that I did my best. The fish market frenzy during the GD was definitely a sore regret for me and other members of the group. But it was what it was.

Here’s to hoping that some of us qualify and get the call-up for SSB. Cheers!

INDIAN SPECIAL FORCES

Being a part of the Indian Special Forces is an exceptional achievement in itself. An adventure for a lifetime and you feel it that you are better than most of the men of your age who are walking around the world. Special Forces soldiers are trained for unconventional warfare, the only unit in the military specifically designed to fight the type of counter-insurgency operations that is the need of the day. While India is ranked as the 7th largest country in the world and is consistently racked and bothered by its difficult neighbours, it definitely is a Herculean task to safeguard the entire country. But we Indians don’t know to surrender or get knocked down, thanks to the elite Special Forces of our country that protects us from the terrorists and insurgent attacks.

Here are 9 Indian Special Forces which are lesser known and every Indian should be proud of.

  1.  MARCOS: MARCOS (Marine Commandos), is a special forces unit that was established by the Indian Navy in 1987 for direct action, special reconnaissance, amphibious warfare and counter-terrorism. The training of the MARCOS is probably the most stringent in the world with the commandos being tested for physical and mental toughness. In the past, it was referred to as M.C.F or ‘Marine Commando Force’. They are called as the “Dadiwala fauj”, meaning the “bearded army” by terrorists because of their bearded disguise in civil areas, MARCOS are capable of operations in all types of terrain but specialise essentially in maritime operations.Image result for marcos indian
  2. Para Commandos: It was created in 1966, the Para Commandos are part of the highly-trained Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army and are the largest part of the Special Forces of India. The parachute units of the Indian Army are among the oldest airborne units in the world. The main aim of a Parachute Regiment is the quick deployment of soldiers behind enemy lines to attack the enemy from behind and destroy their first line of defence. The Para Commandos played a crucial role in helping India claim the peak of Tiger Hill across the Indus River from the Pakistanis during the 1999 Kargil War.

  3. Ghatak Force: As the name suggests, Ghatak (which means ‘killer’ in Hindi), this infantry platoon goes for the kill and spearheads strikes ahead of a battalion. Every infantry battalion in the Indian Army has one platoon and only the most physically fit and motivated soldiers make it to the Ghatak Platoon. The Ghatak soldiers are well-trained, superiorly-armed and equipped to manage situations like terror strikes, hostage situations and counter insurgency operations.

  6. Special Frontier Force: It was established in the aftermath of the 1962 Sino-Indian war as a special force for secret operations behind Chinese lines in the case of another war with China, it was never really used for its intended purpose and has mainly served as an elite special operations and counter-insurgency force. This covert para military special force operates under India’s external intelligence agency RAW and reports directly to the Prime Minister via the Directorate General of Security in the Cabinet Secretariat. It is so classified and anonymous that even the army may not know what it is up to.

The NSG provides security to VIPs, conducts anti-sabotage checks, and is responsible for neutralising terrorist threats to vital installations. The selection process of NSG is itself so demanding that it has a dropout rate of around 70–80 percent. The 7500 personnel strong NSG is evenly divided between the Special Action Group (SAG) and the Special Rangers Group (SRG).
