Out of these, the latter need deep knowledge due to the high probability of answering wrong. Mostly asked questions are from current affairs of last 4-5 month. SSBCrack has special e-books of current affairs for CDS aspirants.
  1. Brush up knowledge of your subjects –GK section of CDS examination has a combination of current affairs and subjective knowledge of science, commerce and arts. Having sufficient knowledge of your stream and subjects can increase your GK marks. G.K. Is the most feared section of CDS due to wide syllabus and mind wrecking question pattern. So pay attention to it.
  2. Practice papers and previous papers – To get the final performance status, aspirants must go through the previous examination papers or sample papers which will give you the idea of how to attempt the paper and the strategy to solve it considering the time limit.
  1. Avoid gambling on questions – Some aspirants tick answers randomly when they face the hard pattern of questions. The negative marking scheme takes them down. It is advised to all aspirants to avoid answering questions that are out of your mind. It slides down your chances of clearing examination as well as golden chance to join Indian Armed Forces.

7 Very Confusing Questions Asked In SSB Interview

0
7 Confusing Questions Asked In SSB

SSB interview, it is the simplest but confusing part of SSB where candidates find it hard to answer the basic simple questions in a right and required way. From the beginning to the ending, it’s the suspense that exists in the interview and after it. Some questions are always encountered in the interview which makes mind confused and candidates answer them in an unexpected way. Below are some questions which usually get in front of candidates.

  • Do you have any Girlfriend/ Boyfriend?

Generally, candidates find themselves in a trap when they are asked about their girlfriend or any best female friend. It is just an informative question and Interviewing Officers want to analyse your concentration and dedication toward aim or future plans. Whenever you are asked about these kinds of questions, who need to stay firm on your ground by saying that you have many female friends and don’t have any girlfriend. Your future plans are more important at this time. Avoid revealing about yourself to stay away from extra questions

  • Your marks/ percentage have an irregular pattern. Why?

Ups and downs in marks in 10th, 10+2 and graduation is the most asked question and generally makes candidates a bit answerless to some extent. If you have a progressive pattern then you will be asked about the efforts you have made to increase the percentage, if your marks are digressive then you will be probed for the reason behind it. And a candidate with consistent performance is rarely questioned about it.

ssbinterviewbook
  • What if you not get selected this time?

Candidates who show their extreme inclination toward armed forces are asked what they will do in cases they get conference out this time. Now some candidates still show their sticky nature and replies to attempt SSB again and again till he got recommended. This shows your time wastage and passive aim. You have to show your alternate plan for future as nobody can depend on SSB for a long time following the eligibility pattern of entries. So explain your alternate aim along with your interest in the armed forces.

  • Why you selected outdoor games rather than indoor games?

Candidates always mention outdoor games in PIQ form. Few candidates mention some indoor games. When asked about choosing outdoor games rather than indoor games, candidates may answer about the qualities they learn from outdoor games like cooperation, a group working, stamina improvement and others as per your sports.

  • Whom do you like most, mother or father?

This question takes down many candidates. While answering this question, some candidates prefer father and some prefer mother. Complete biasing toward anyone is not right. The candidate should answer preferring both equally by depicting their qualities. Children of military personnel may show their slight inclination toward mother due to father’s tough duty schedule.

  • Why got rejected last time?

This question can spoil your game and is specially framed for repeaters. Candidates need to avoid bushing around and bluffing. Give a reason that is acceptable like weak communication skill, slow or bad writing or any other genuine reason.

  • A situation to check qualities.

To check one’s capability or decision making, the Interviewing Officer sometimes asked situation that occurs rarely. One- to- many situations, situations with no resources nearby, multiple tasks at any instance etc. Candidates must answer them as per their qualities (stamina, decision making). Mostly one to one situation is can be tackled using physical stamina. But one- to- many has to be used using resources. Similarly, in a resources situation, the candidate must think practically rather than responding irrelevantly.

12 Things Common To Every Fauji Kid

12 Things Common To Every Fauji Kid

Everyone knows that the military life is quite different than the normal, civil life. The work profile is different, the working conditions are different and pretty much everything is completely distinct to the civil life. So it’s pretty obvious that the fauji kids must also be different to the civil kids. They have a different personality altogether. You can easily identify a fauji kid when you see one. The reasons maybe many but the one which is most influential is that they are brought up in a completely different style and way. So, they might have certain things which are common among them.

Download:

I’m listing a few below.

  1. Uniforms!
This is THE most common thing for fauji kids. Since the time we are born, we’ve seen our fathers/ mothers in uniforms. We see our parents’ seniors and juniors in uniforms from time to time and it’s all very natural for us. We don’t just see the uniform, we can instantly tell the Arms/Services and the Rank of the Armed Forces Personnel.
  2. Changing schools.
This is the inevitable part of being a fauji kid. Every 2-3 years we have to change our schools, as our parents get posted elsewhere. I know a lot of people who crib about this aspect but I (being a fauji kid myself) love it! You get to see new places, (some of which sound alien to the civil children!), make new friends and gain more exposure.
  3. We go on for days, maybe weeks without talking to ours fathers.
Every fauji kid must have at least once found themselves in this situation. We don’t get the chance to talk to our fathers or mothers for days, which might turn into weeks simply because our fathers are posted in a place where network is a big issue or when they have to go on Temporary Duties (TDs) on a short notice or maybe because they are in the middle of an ambush somewhere.
  4. The Cantt Life.
As fauji kids, we really become so comfortable with our lives in the army cantonments. Not to brag but, the cantonment is the most scenic and beautiful place of any station! (Seriously it is.)
  5. The ‘where are you from’ question.
This is a tough one. Every time someone asks a fauji kid this question, I’m sure they can’t quite figure out what to say. I remember that someone had asked the same question to a friend of mine and this is what she answered- ‘well you know, I’ve been living in Delhi for the past 6 years, though I was in Meerut earlier. My father is posted in Agra currently, my hometown is in Bangalore.’ So really, there isn’t a fixed answer.
  6. The reaction we get when we say our fathers are in the Armed Forces.
This is again a common one. In a normal conversation whenever someone asks this question to any fauji kid, the answer to it literally amazes people. When I would tell people that my parents are in the Army, they would be like, ‘really?’ ‘Wow’, ‘how cool’.12 Things Common To Every Fauji Kid
  7. Most of the cities have a personal significance for us.
Since the Fauji families have to move around a lot, every fauji kid has at least one significant memory of every station that they’ve been to. The cities on the map each have a story to tell.
  8. 8. Heroism is a part of our lives.
The impressive guests who drop by the house to visit, the amazing people their parents get to tell them about, the larger-than-life people and incredible stories of acts of valour are so common to fauji kids.
  9. Home is where the Armed Forces send you.
There is no clear definition of a home. It’s not static. It’s not permanent. Being with your father, mother and siblings is what home is for the fauji kids.
  10. Our mothers play dual roles.
When the fauji fathers aren’t around, the mothers not only have to take care of the children but also compensate for the absence of the fathers. In my opinion, the fauji kids have the strongest mothers in the whole world.
  11. The mess parties!
Every fauji kid has been to at least one of these. The aunties and uncles talking about topics that you wouldn’t get to hear anywhere else. The Army Band playing songs, uncle and aunties singing, children sitting in one room glued to the television!
  12. The Pride.
Yes, we don’t get to see our fathers often. We don’t get to spend time with them. We move from place to place like nomads, but despite of all this, we are proud to be fauji kids. The pride is something that is innately within us. We are proud of our fathers, for what they do. We are proud of our mothers who remain so strong, always. And we are proud of ourselves.

8 Powerful Tricks To Boost Your Confidence Before The Interview

0
8 Powerful Tricks To Boost Your Confidence Before The Interview

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”- Theodore Roosevelt

The word confidence, in the simplest of words, means having the belief or faith in something. When we talk about self -confidence, we basically are referring to our self- efficacy. It is the belief that an individual has about himself/ herself, that they can perform a certain task efficiently. Come to think of it, being confident and having a high self -efficacy and positive self -esteem is highly important in order to live a fully satisfying life. If you are a confident individual and ooze positive energy about yourself, it makes others to evaluate you in a favourable manner. You are more likely to be judged and evaluated better if you see yourself in a positive manner.
Think about any one episode of your life in which you were highly nervous and anxious. It could be an impromptu speech, a dance performance or an interview. Coming to the interviews, we all know how much anxiety an interview or an interactive session (which pretty much decides your future) can evoke. Imagine yourself sitting outside the IO’s room or the Conference Room. Your feelings are literally at the extremes. You either feel numb, or you go through mixed emotions. You’ll end up feeling nervous, excited, anxious, scared, joyous, all at the same time. Sitting outside the interview room, it’ll probably hit you that this is the moment that you’ve waited for so long. You wouldn’t really want all the anxiety and the apprehension to just ruin it all for you, would you?
A confident candidate is any day likely to do better than a candidate who is unsure of himself/herself. From the moment you walk into the Interview Room, each fibre of your body should scream that you are confident and sure of yourself. Don’t forget that it’s one of the Officer Like Qualities (OLQs). You may be well versed with the current affairs, you might be very knowledgeable and you might handle stress situations very nicely as well, but if you aren’t confident of yourself will you be able to do justice to all the qualities that you have? No.

Download:

Therefore, I’m suggesting some tricks that you can use while you wait for your interview to start!

    1. Stop Thinking Too Much.
It’s finally come down to the moment that every Defence Aspirant waits for, your interview, which gives you the chance to express yourself and to convince the authorities that yes “I have it in me”. So just stop over thinking. One of the biggest reasons why people fail to feel and be confident is their fear of thinking of the ‘what ifs’. Don’t make the situation more complicated for yourself by dwelling in such thoughts.
    2. Work on your Non-Verbal Communication.
93% of the communication between humans occurs through means of non -verbal communication. Your words only comprise of 7% of the total communication. So I hope you realise how important it is to focus and to work on your gestures and postures. From the moment you enter the room, till the time you move out of the door, The IO is observing your body language. There should be congruence between what you say and what your body says.
    3. Think happy thoughts.
While you are sitting outside and waiting for your interview to start think about the happy moments and memories that you have about yourself and your loved ones. It could be a day out with your family, a trip with your friends, a conversation with your teacher or time spent with your pet. Anything. Think about whatever makes you happy. In doing so, the level of your stress hormones decreases and you start to better and positive.
    4. Superman Pose.
Research says that standing in a superman pose before doing anything significant and important helps you feel better and confident about yourself. The superman pose causes a decrease in cortisol level of 25%. So 10 minutes before your interview starts, go somewhere private and for 2 minutes stand in the superman pose. Be self-assured.8 Powerful Tricks To Boost Your Confidence Before The Interview
    5. Go back to the last time you felt confident.
Think of the last event in your life in which you felt really confident about yourself. Mentally go back to that event and try to recall your emotions and feelings at that point of time. Try to remember how much relieved and happy you were after the completion of that particular task. Try to feel the same emotions and feelings and you’ll end up becoming more confident.
    6. Rehearse Mentally.
Just go through major points that you have to remember during your interview and try to just scan through all the pointers that you had prepared for yourself. You should be clear about each word that you had written in your Personal Information Questionnaire (PIQ), so just rehearse whatever you had written and any other major fact and detail that you have to remember.
    7. Think of nice things that people have said about you.
Try to think of all the positive things that your friends, family, colleagues and your teachers have said about you. It’s the best way to remind yourself that you are capable of doing good and great things in life. You will instantly feel positive and confident about yourself.
    8. Enjoy the moment!
You are about to give probably the most important interview of your life. You’ve worked hard, you’ve dreamt about it and you’re so close to living your dream. So just live in the moment. Breathe in and breathe out. Later in life this’ll be one of your fondest memories, provided you believe in yourself and follow the above tricks!

8 Tips And Tricks To Clear Progressive Group Task

8 Tips And Tricks To Clear Progressive Group Task

GTO days are the spine wrecking days due to mental as well as physical works. These days have various tasks. The Progressive Group Task is one of them that is meant for analysis the coordination and how a person works in pressure of its group. Diverse responses and ideas are surfaced while attempting this task. And many times candidates find this task as the step of disqualification from SSB as it can’t be practiced earlier. This task is a weak point of most of the repeaters. So we are here with some tricks and tricks to make it easy to handle.

Download:

  1. An alternate can be a better option – Once you get stuck on any place and not finding any way out, then use the alternate way to save time and getting the group accelerated. Firstly concentrate on the obstruction of the way. But still nobody gets the idea, then try the next route to approach the finish line. This ultimately means that never stop efforts to reach the finish line.
  2. Help, if not getting the idea – If a candidate is not getting any idea, then he must stay involved in preparing the arrangement or executing the idea, or managing the transport of man and material. Your engagement in working matters a lot and shows your cooperation and group management. But depending only on helping is not a good idea. The Candidate must give ideas also along with helping.
  3. Toughest/complex structures give most ideas – Always remember this truth that the most complex structure has maximum number of solutions. Any structure that appears to be complex or new means you need to widen up your mind to get any idea and when you get any idea, many other ideas stuck your mind
  4. Moral support makes point – One should always keep on motivating the group morally. This shows your motivation, consistency and supportive nature.8 Tips And Tricks To Clear Progressive Group Task
  5. Aggression and anger can spoil the game – It happens many times that candidates find their ideas being neglected by the group. In that case, don’t leave patience or show aggression. This will either lead to any chaos or division of the group and simultaneously reduces your chances of selection.
  6. Keep the helping material in mind – The helping material provided to you must always be kept in mind. While progressing in the task, many time structures confuse the mind. In that case, observing the structure and adjusting the helping material gives new ideas.
  7. Transport the burden rather than holding it – Every PGT has a burden or sometimes called as luggage. This has to be taken along with the group. Candidates must actively try hard to grab the ideas rather than holding and securing the burden. It doesn’t mean that it should be neglected. While moving ahead, the candidate must also handle it like a part of the group.
  8. Accept your mistake – It is generally that candidates sometimes make mistakes while attempting the tasks. Nobody is perfect or have practiced these tasks. So it is generally that candidates sometimes make mistakes. Here the point is to accept it and do the penalty. It shows your rule bounded nature as well as self-discipline.

10 Ways To Maintain A Positive Attitude

0
10 Ways To Maintain A Positive Attitude

“Keep your face always toward the sunshine and shadows will fall behind you.” –  Walt Whitman.

We are all unique in our own ways. No two people can have the same perception about a thing. For example, two people see the same cloud, but one of them perceives the cloud’s shape to be of a horse while the other perceives it to be a rabbit. How we perceive things define our attitudes towards it. What is attitude? Our attitude is the disposition to respond favourably or unfavourably to a person, event or an object. Why are we talking about positive attitude? Any organization, be it the Armed Forces or any MNC, would without a doubt value an officer or an employee who has a positive attitude. A person with a negative attitude isn’t really liked by people and in the workplace such people end up being a liability. We acquire attitudes by our interactions with the environment, our experiences and our education.

In today’s time, life can throw some really challenging situations at us and it becomes stressful most of the times. During such situations, it can become very difficult to maintain a positive attitude. Nonetheless, ,

Here are some ways:

  1. Don’t search for happiness. Create it.
Understand that happiness is a state of mind. Ironically our search for happiness itself can become very stressful sometimes. Don’t just sit and wait for happiness, go out and make it happen for yourself. Create a happy environment for yourself from this moment onwards. In doing so your attitude towards things becomes positive and life becomes a happy journey instead of being a challenge.
  2. Count your blessings
Sit down alone and literally count your blessings and be thankful for them. We have a tendency to overlook what went right and to focus on what went wrong. Be thankful for whatever you have. Being content with one’s life helps in developing a positive attitude.
  3. Focus on the good. Not the bad
Shift your focus from the things that make you sad or make you anxious and think about things that comfort you. It helps in reducing the stress levels. It’s difficult to have a “glass half full” attitude in cumbersome situations but you’d rather have the glass half full than the glass half empty right?
  4. Surround yourself with positive people
We become easily influenced by the people with whom we interact day in and day out. If you are surrounded by people who have negative attitudes about everything it’s going to rub off on you sooner or later. Before you know it, you’ll become like them. Similarly, when you are surrounded by people who have a positive outlook towards life, you will also adopt the same perspective.
  5. Exercise
Exercising not only helps the body but also the mind. It helps to lower the stress levels and relieve anxiety. Exercise also helps in preventing cognitive decline and sharpens your memory.10 Ways To Maintain A Positive Attitude
  6. Watch what you are eating
what you eat can have a major impact on your mood and outlook towards life. Eat food that has enough Omega-3 Fatty Acids. These may help protect against depression. It’s important to get enough vitamin D as well as it can help increase the serotonin levels in the brain. A diet which is rich in vegetables, fruits and lean protein helps in feeling better mentally and physically.
  7. Decide and prioritize.
Discover your purpose in life. Try visualising your future: where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 10 years? What goals do you have and how to achieve them? Prioritize your life and determine what is important for you. Prioritizing everything can help you achieve a better balance in your life. This aids in avoiding confusion and since you know what you want in life, you’ll be more likely to have a positive approach towards achieving your goals. In the long run, it’ll be beneficial for you.
  8. Talk to yourself.
You are your biggest critic. Nobody knows you better than yourself. So talk to yourself. Give pep and motivational talks to yourself. Motivate yourself rather than getting motivated by others. For example, someone might listen to a motivational song first thing in the morning or stand in front of the mirror and say a few positive words to themselves. Whatever works right?
  9. Live in the present.
Don’t get bogged down by thinking of the past and don’t get anxious by thinking about the future. Just live in the moment and seize it. Enjoy the moment that you’re in. That’s the only things in your control. You can’t change the past. Your future pretty much depends on your present. So focus on it, works towards a better future.
  10. Accept challenges. Don’t crib.
Consider two people, one who cribs all the time about dealing with challenges and one who accepts them and works towards solving them. In the long run, which one is likely to develop a positive attitude towards life and challenges? The second person. If you accept challenges with optimism and solve the problem, your self-efficacy (the belief that you can do a particular task) will increase which will ultimately result in a positive attitude towards yourself and others.Try adopting these ways in your daily life and remember that attitude changes everything!

French Army Contingent To March With Indian Troops This Republic Day

Hello, Warriors! India has always been indulged in various exercises with friendly foreign nations to grow their military partnership. But this time, on India’s 67th Republic Day this year, the country will witness something unique — a foreign contingent marching with Indian troops in the Republic Day parade.

For the first time in the history of India, contingent of any foreign country’s army will take part in this year’s Republic Day Parade.

Download:

A 56-member French contingent of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 7th Armoured Brigade is already in Rajasthan to take part in a joint exercise. Known as “Shakti 2016”, it will focus on counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency.

The 35th Infantry Regiment has a number of battle honours to its credit and is over 400 hundred years old — it was raised in 1604 in Lorraine, France. It had also taken part in the Afghan war. The contingent is led by Major Thibaut De Lacoste Lareymondie.French-military

The French contingent will march down the Rajpath as French President Francois Hollande will be seated as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations this year. In 2009, India participated in the Bastille Day Military Parade or 14 July Military Parade, the oldest regular military parade in the world.

The then President Nicolas Sarkozy invited Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, to attend the event as the guest of honour. Soldiers including jawans of Maratha Light Infantry Regiment Centre (MLIRC) marched down the Champs Elysees to the sound of an Indian military band playing Indian martial tunes including “Saare Jahan Se Achcha”.

Meanwhile, a French contingent comprising 56 personnel of 35th Infantry Regiment of 7th Armoured Brigade, which, arrived in Jodhpur to take part in eight-day long counter-insurgency joint exercise ‘Shakti-2016’.

French President To Be The Chief Guest Of This Year’s Republic Day Parade

0
france-indian-republic-day

Hello, Warriors. French President Francois Hollande is invited to be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade of January 26, 2016.

The visit of Mr. Hollande to New Delhi for the mega-pageant of January 26 will be symbolic and send a message of a worldwide solidarity among the democratic countries against terrorism of the IS which staged the November 13 attacks in Paris last year.

The announcement on the presence of Mr. Hollande during the Republic Day parade has been finalised during the talks that French foreign minister Laurent Fabius had in Delhi on November 20 last year. Mr Fabius, one of the longest serving French diplomats, was in Delhi to discuss the climate conference.france-indian-republic-day

Importantly, France was the first country with which India established a Strategic Partnership in 1998 after New Delhi did nuclear tests. The two countries have close cooperation in defence, space, civil-nuclear and security issues along with strong trade and investment and cultural ties. France is also the first country with which India entered into civil nuclear energy cooperation in 2008 after obtaining the NSG waiver.

This will be the fifth time that a French leader will be a Chief Guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations — the maximum number from any country so far. Earlier leaders from that country had presided in 1976, 1980, 1998 and 2008. Bhutan has presided four times so far in 1954, 1984, 2005 and 2013.

An invitation to be the Republic Day chief guest is highly symbolic from the Indian government’s perspective. For the 2015 parade, the Modi government had invited Barack Obama, which was his second visit as US President to India. India was keen to host Hollande since France has emerged as a key strategic partner on defence and nuclear issues. And with the gruesome Paris attacks, counter-terrorism will be a key area of cooperation.

With this visit of the French President, let us hope that the partnership between India and France strengthens and more opportunities grow up between the two nations.

JFR Jacob – An Inspirational And Legendary Soldier

0
JFR Jacob

Hello, Warriors! One of India’s most celebrated military officers, Lieutenant General (retired) Jacob Farj Rafael Jacob passed away on January 13th. JFR Jacob, was head of the Indian Army’s eastern command during the 1971 India-Pakistan war that resulted in the creation of Bangladesh.

The 93-year-old passed away around 8.30 am at the Army Hospital (Research and Referral) due to pneumonia.

Born in Kolkata (then Calcutta) in 1923, Jack Farj Rafael Jacob grew up in a conservative Baghdadi Jews household under the British rule. His family had origins in Iraq. Jacob did his schooling from Victoria School in Kurseong, West Bengal.

Download:

As a teenager, Jacob was strongly influenced by wartime poetry. Unmarried and childless, Jacob wrote an open letter to the youth of Delhi at 93, addressing them as his “sons and daughters”.

Jacob had joined the British army at the age of 18 “to fight the Nazis”. This kid later on went to command the Eastern Indian Army and played a pivotal role in defining the Indian Army’s strategy during the course of operations.

In the 1971 war, he designed a “war of movement” plan which was to capture all of East Pakistan including Dhaka by avoiding the towns in between and using secondary routes to reach the capital city. This plan, carried in just 15 days, made the Indian Army’s incursion of Dhaka successful.

After graduating from Officer’s Training School Mhow in 1942, Jacob also fought in World War II in northern Iraq, North Africa, Burma (now Myanmar), Sumatra, etc. He went on to graduate from artillery schools in England and the United States, where he got special training in advanced artillery and missiles and went on to serve for 37 years in different ranks in the Army.

After being promoted to Brigadier in 1963, he fought in the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War. Later on, Jacob was promoted to Major General in 1967.JFR Jacob

In 1971, Lt General Jacob was credited responsible for getting the Pakistani Commander Lt General AAK Niazi to sign the surrender document allegedly by blackmailing him that he would let the Mukti Bahini, the force of Bengali freedom fighters, loose on Pakistani nationals in Dhaka if he didn’t sign. Handing the document to General Niazi, which asked for Pakistan Army’s unconditional surrender, Jacob gave him 30 minutes to decide. Niazi accepted the conditions.

A strong supporter of India-Israel ties, the General joined the BJP in the 1990s and served as a security advisor to the party.

“I’ve never experienced any anti-Semitism in India, none whatsoever. When everyone asked me why I did not go to Israel, I told them I was born in India, India gave me everything, I will die in India,” Lt General Jacob had said in an interview.

The great legend had always and will continue to inspire the generations of soldiers and leaders to come.
